ThomsonTHE priests, the Levites, even the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no portion, nor lot, with Israel. The homage offerings of the Lord are their lot. Them they shall eat,
BrentonThe priests, the Levites, even the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel; the burnt-offerings of the Lord are their inheritance, they shall eat them.
GreekΟὐκ ἔσται τοῖς ἱερεῦσι τοῖς Λευίταις ὅλῃ φυλῇ Λευὶ μερὶς οὐδὲ κλῆρος μετὰ Ἰσραήλ· καρπώματα Κυρίου ὁ κλῆρος αὐτῶν, φάγονται αὐτά.

Thomsonand they shall not have a lot of inheritance among their brethren. The Lord Himself is their lot of inheritance, as He hath said to them.
BrentonAnd they shall have no inheritance among their brethren; the Lord himself is his portion, as he said to him.
GreekΚλῆρος δὲ οὐκ ἔσται αὐτοῖς ἐν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτῶν· Κύριος αὐτὸς κλῆρος αὐτοῦ, καθότι εἶπεν αὐτῷ.

ThomsonNow this shall be the priest’s due from the people—from them who offer sacrifices, whether a young bull, or a sheep, thou shalt give to the priest the shoulder, and the cheeks, and the maw.
BrentonAnd this is the due of the priests in the things coming from the people from those who offer sacrifices, whether it be a calf or a sheep; and thou shalt give the shoulder to the priest, and the cheeks, and the great intestine:

ThomsonThou shalt also give him the dedications of thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, and the dedications of the fleeces of thy flock.
Brentonand the first-fruits of thy corn, and of thy wine, and of thine oil; and thou shalt give to him the first-fruits of the fleeces of thy sheep:

ThomsonBecause the Lord hath chosen him, out of all thy tribes, to stand before the Lord God, to minister and to bless, in his name; therefore with regard to him and his sons,

Thomsonamong the children of Israel, if, out of any one of all these cities of the children of Israel where he dwelleth, a Levite cometh, with all the desire of his soul, to the place which the Lord hath chosen,
BrentonAnd if a Levite come from one of the cities of all the children of Israel, where he himself dwells, accordingly as his mind desires, to the place which he shall have chosen,

Thomsonthat he may minister to the name of the Lord his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, who attend there before the Lord thy God,
Brentonhe shall minister to the name of the Lord his God, as all his brethren the Levites, who stand there present before the Lord thy God.

ThomsonWhen thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
BrentonAnd when thou shalt have entered into the land which the Lord thy God gives thee, thou shalt not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.

ThomsonLet there not be found among you any one who purifieth his son, or his daughter, with fire; or who practiseth divinations, or consulteth omens, or augury,

Greekἐπαείδων ἐπαοιδὴν, ἐγγαστρίμυθος, καὶ τερατοσκόπος, ἐπερωτῶν τοὺς νεκρούς.

Thomsonfor every one who practiseth such things is an abomination to the Lord thy God; for, because of these abominations, the Lord will root them out from before you.
BrentonFor every one that does these things is an abomination to the Lord thy God; for because of these abominations the Lord will destroy them from before thy face.

ThomsonFor these nations which thou art about to possess will hearken to enchanters and diviners; but the Lord thy God hath not permitted thee to do so.
BrentonFor all these nations whose land thou shalt inherit, they will listen to omens and divinations; but the Lord thy God has not permitted thee so to do.
GreekΤὰ γὰρ ἔθνη ταῦτα, οὓς σὺ κατακληρονομεῖς αὐτοὺς, οὗτοι κληδόνων καὶ μαντειῶν ἀκούσονται· καί σοι οὐχ οὕτως ἔδωκε Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου.

ThomsonThe Lord thy God will raise up for thee, from among thy brethren, a prophet like me; to him you shall hearken.
BrentonThe Lord thy God shall raise up to thee a prophet of thy brethren, like me; him shall ye hear:
GreekΠροφήτην ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν σου, ὡς ἐμὲ, ἀναστήσει σοι Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου· αὐτοῦ ἀκούσεσθε·

ThomsonAccording to all that thou didst request of the Lord thy God at Choreb, in the day of the solemn assembly, when you said, Let us no more hear the voice of the Lord thy God, and let us no more behold this great fire, lest we die,
Brentonaccording to all things which thou didst desire of the Lord thy God in Choreb in the day of the assembly, saying, We will not again hear the voice of the Lord thy God, and we will not any more see this great fire, and so we shall not die.
GreekΚατὰ πάντα ὅσα ᾐτήσω παρὰ Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ σου ἐν Χωρὴβ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῆς ἐκκλησίας, λέγοντες, οὐ προσθήσομεν ἀκοῦσαι τὴν φωνὴν Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ σου, καὶ τὸ πῦρ τοῦτο τὸ μὲγα οὐκ ὀψόμεθα ἔτι, οὐδὲ μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν.

Thomsonthe Lord then said to me, They have spoken right in all that they have said to thee:
BrentonAnd the Lord said to me, They have spoken rightly all that they have said to thee.
GreekΚαὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς μὲ, ὀρθῶς πάντα ὅσα ἐλάλησαν πρὸς σέ.

ThomsonI will raise up for them, from among their brethren, a prophet like thee, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he will speak to them as I command him:
BrentonI will raise up to them a prophet of their brethren, like thee; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them as I shall command him.
GreekΠροφήτην ἀναστήσω αὐτοῖς ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν, ὥσπερ σέ· καὶ δώσω τὰ ῥήματα ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτοῦ, καὶ λαλήσει αὐτοῖς καθʼ ὅτι ἂν ἐντείλωμαι αὐτῷ.

Thomsonand whosoever will not hearken to what that prophet shall speak in My name, I will execute vengeance on him.
BrentonAnd whatever man shall not hearken to whatsoever words that prophet shall speak in my name, I will take vengeance on him.
GreekΚαὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἐὰν μὴ ἀκούσῃ ὅσα ἂν λαλήσῃ ὁ προφήτης ἐκεῖνος ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου, ἐγὼ ἐκδικήσω ἐξ αὐτοῦ.

ThomsonBut the prophet who shall wickedly presume to speak a word in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall be put to death.
BrentonBut the prophet whosoever shall impiously speak in my name a word which I have not commanded him to speak, and whosoever shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.
GreekΠλὴν ὁ προφήτης ὃς ἂν ἀσεβήσῃ λαλῆσαι ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου ῥῆμα ὃ οὐ προσέταξα λαλῆσαι, καὶ ὃς ἂν λαλήσῃ ἐν ὀνόματι θεῶν ἑτέρων, ἀποθανεῖται ὁ προφήτης ἐκεῖνος.

ThomsonNow if thou shalt say in thy heart, How shall I know the word which the Lord hath not spoken?
BrentonBut if thou shalt say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?
GreekἘὰν δὲ εἴπῃς ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ σου, πῶς γνωσόμεθα τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ οὐκ ἐλάλησε Κύριος;

ThomsonWhen the things which that prophet hath spoken in the name of the Lord shall not happen, nor come to pass, the Lord hath not spoken that word. The prophet hath spoken wickedly. You shall not spare him.
BrentonWhatsoever words that prophet shall speak in the name of the Lord, and they shall not come true, and not come to pass, this is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; that prophet has spoken wickedly: ye shall not spare him.
GreekὍσα ἐὰν λαλήσῃ ὁ προφήτης ἐκεῖνος τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου, καὶ μὴ γένηται, καὶ μὴ συμβῇ, τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ οὐκ ἐλάλησε Κύριος, ἐν ἀσεβείᾳ ἐλάλησεν ὁ προφήτης ἐκεῖνος· οὐκ ἀφέξεσθε αὐτοῦ.
