ThomsonAGAIN a word of the Lord came to me, saying,

ThomsonSon of man set thy face against the mountains of Israel and prophesy against them and thou shalt say:

Greekυἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, στήρισον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ προφήτευσον ἐπʼ αὐτὰ,

ThomsonO mountains of Israel, hear a word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord to the mountains and hills, and to the vales and the forests, Behold I am bringing a sword against you; and your high places shall be destroyed;
Brentonand thou shalt say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord; thus saith the Lord to the mountains, and to the hills, and to the valleys, and to the forests; Behold, I bring a sword upon you, and your high places shall be utterly destroyed.
Greekκαὶ ἐρεῖς, Τὰ ὄρη Ἰσραὴλ ἀκούσατε λόγον Κυρίου· τάδε λέγει Κύριος τοῖς ὄρεσι καὶ τοῖς βουνοῖς καὶ ταῖς φάραγξι καὶ ταῖς νάπαις, ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπάγω ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς ῥομφαίαν, καὶ ἐξολοθρευθήσεται τὰ ὑψηλὰ ὑμῶν.

Thomsonand your altars and your temples shall be trodden down; and I will cast down your slain before your idols;
BrentonAnd your altars shall be broken to pieces, and your consecrated plats; and I will cast down your slain men before your idols.
GreekΚαὶ συντριβήσονται τὰ θυσιαστήρια ὑμῶν, καὶ τὰ τεμένη ὑμῶν, καὶ καταβαλῶ τραυματίας ὑμῶν ἐνώπιον τῶν εἰδώλων ὑμῶν,

Thomsonand scatter your bones around your altars and in all your dwelling places.
BrentonAnd I will scatter your bones round about your altars,
Greekκαὶ διασκορπιῶ τὰ ὀστᾶ ὑμῶν κύκλῳ τῶν θυσιαστηρίων ὑμῶν,

ThomsonThe cities shall be laid waste and the high places desolated, that your altars may be utterly destroyed; and your idols shall be trampled down when your temples are re moved;
Brentonand in all your habitations: the cities shall be made desolate, and the high places utterly laid waste; that your altars may be destroyed, and your idols be broken to pieces, and your consecrated plats be abolished.
Greekκαὶ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ κατοικίᾳ ὑμῶν· αἱ πόλεις ἐξερημωθήσονται, καὶ τὰ ὑψηλὰ ἀφανισθήσεται, ὅπως ἐξολοθρευθῇ τὰ θυσιαστήρια ὑμῶν, καὶ συντριβήσονται τὰ εἴδωλα ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐξαρθῇ τὰ τεμένη ὑμῶν·

Thomsonand your wounded shall fall in the midst of you; and you shall know that I am the Lord.
BrentonAnd slain men shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ πεσοῦνται τραυματίαι ἐν μέσῳ ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ Κύριος.

ThomsonWhen some of you, who have escaped from the sword, are among the nations and in your dispersions through the countries;
BrentonWhen there are some of you escaping from the sword among the Gentiles, and when ye are scattered in the countries;
GreekἘν τῷ γενέσθαι ἐξ ὑμῶν ἀνασωζομένους ἐκ ῥομφαίας ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι, καὶ ἐν τῷ διασκορπισμῷ ὑμῶν ἐν ταῖς χώραις,

Thomsonthen shall those of you, who have escaped, remember Me among the nations whither they have been carried captives. With their heart which is going a-whoring from Me, and with their eyes, which are going a-whoring after their own devices (I have sworn) they shall bewail themselves for all their abominations
Brentonthen they of you that escape among the nations whither they were carried captive shall remember me; (I have sworn an oath against their heart that goes a-whoring from me, and their eyes that go a-whoring after their practices;) and they shall mourn over themselves for all their abominations.
Greekκαὶ μνησθήσονταί μου οἱ ἀνασωζόμενοι ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, οὗ ᾐχμαλωτεύθησαν ἐκεῖ· ὀμώμοκα τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῶν τῇ ἐκπορνευούσῃ ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ, καὶ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτῶν τοῖς ἐκπορνεύουσιν ὀπίσω τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων αὐτῶν· καὶ κόψονται πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς βδελύγμασιν αὐτῶν·

Thomsonand acknowledge that I the Lord have spoken.
BrentonAnd they shall know that I the Lord have spoken.
GreekΚαὶ ἐπιγνώσονται διότι ἐγὼ Κύριος λελάληκα.

ThomsonThus saith the Lord: Clap with thy hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say, Ha! ha! to all the abominations of the house of Israel. By sword and by pestilence, and by famine they shall fall.
BrentonThus saith the Lord; Clap with thy hand, and stamp with thy foot and say, Aha, aha! for all the abominations of the house of Israel: they shall fall by the sword, and by pestilence, and by famine.
GreekΤάδε λέγει Κύριος, κρότησον τῇ χειρὶ καὶ ψόφησον τῷ ποδὶ, καὶ εἰπὸν, εὖγε εὖγε, ἐπὶ πᾶσι τοῖς βδελύγμασιν οἴκου Ἰσραήλ· ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ καὶ ἑν θανάτῳ καὶ ἐν λιμῷ πεσοῦνται.

ThomsonHe who is near shall fall by the sword; and he who is far off, shall die by pestilence; and he who is besieged shall be consumed by famine. And I will accomplish My fury on them.
BrentonHe that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that is far off shall die by the pestilence; and he that is in the siege shall be consumed with famine: and I will accomplish mine anger upon them.
GreekὉ ἐγγὺς ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ πεσεῖται, ὁ δὲ μακρὰν ἐν θανάτῳ τελευτήσει· καὶ ὁ περιεχόμενος ἐν λιμῷ συντελεσθήσεται· καὶ συντελέσω τὴν ὀργήν μου ἐπʼ αὐτούς.

ThomsonAnd you shall know that I am the Lord, when your slain are in the midst of your idols, around your altars, on every lofty mount, and under every shady tree, where they offered a sweet smelling savour to all their idols.

GreekΚαὶ γνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ Κύριος, ἐν τῷ εἶναι τοὺς τραυματίας ὑμῶν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν εἰδώλων ὑμῶν κύκλῳ τῶν θυσιαστηρίων ὑμῶν· ἐπὶ πάντα βουνὸν ὑψηλὸν, καὶ ὑποκάτω δένδρου συσκίου, οὗ ἔδωκαν ἐκεῖ ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας πᾶσι τοῖς εἰδώλοις αὐτῶν.

ThomsonFor I will stretch forth My hand against them; and make the land a desolation and a scene of destruction, from the wilderness of Deblatha through all their habitations; and you shall know that I am the Lord.
BrentonAnd I will stretch out my hand against them, and I will make the land desolate and ruined from the wilderness of Deblatha, in all their habitations: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπʼ αὐτούς, καὶ θήσομαι τὴν γῆν εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ εἰς ὄλεθρον ἀπὸ τῆς ἐρήμου Δεβλαθὰ ἐκ πάσης τῆς κατοικεσίας αὐτῶν· ἐπιγνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ Κύριος.
