ThomsonTHEY who trust in the Lord shall be like mount Sion; he who inhabiteth Jerusalem shall never be shaken.
BrentonA Song of Degrees. When the Lord turned the captivity of Sion, we became as comforted ones.
GreekὨδὴ τῶν ἀναβαθμῶν. Ἐν τῷ ἐπιστρέψαι Κύριον τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν Σιὼν, ἐγενήθημεν ὡσεὶ παρακεκλημένοι.

ThomsonAround her are mountains; and the Lord is around His people, from this time forth and forever;
BrentonThen was our mouth filled with joy, and our tongue with exultation: then would they say among the Gentiles,
GreekΤότε ἐπλήσθη χαρᾶς τὸ στόμα ἡμῶν, καὶ ἡ γλῶσσα ἡμῶν ἀγαλλιάσεως· τότε ἐροῦσιν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, ἐμεγάλυνε Κύριος τοῦ ποιῆσαι μετʼ αὐτῶν.

Thomsonfor the Lord will not suffer the rod of the wicked to be over the inheritance of the righteous; that the righteous may not stretch forth their hands to iniquities.
BrentonThe Lord has done great things among them. The Lord has done great things for us, we became joyful.
GreekἘμεγάλυνε Κύριος τοῦ ποιῆσαι μεθʼ ἡμῶν, ἐγενήθημεν εὐφραινόμενοι.

ThomsonDo good, O Lord, to the good, and to them who are upright in heart.
BrentonTurn, O Lord, our captivity, as the streams in the south.
GreekἘπίστρεψον, Κύριε, τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν ἡμῶν ὡς χειμάῤῥους ἐν τῷ Νότῳ.

ThomsonBut them who turn aside into crooked ways, the Lord will drive away with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel!
