ThomsonTHE Lord is my shepherd, I shall want nothing.
BrentonA Psalm for David on the first day of the week. The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof; the world, and all that dwell in it.
GreekΨαλμὸς τῷ Δαυὶδ τῆς μιᾶς σαββάτου. Τοῦ Κυρίου ἡ γῆ καὶ τὸ πλήρωμα αὐτῆς, ἡ οἰκουμένη καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν αὐτῇ.

ThomsonIn a verdant pasture He hath fixed my abode. He hath fed me by gently flowing water
BrentonHe has founded it upon the seas, and prepared it upon the rivers.
GreekΑὐτὸς ἐπὶ θαλασσῶν ἐθεμελιώσεν αὐτὴν, καὶ ἐπὶ ποταμῶν ἡτοίμασεν αὐτήν.

Thomsonand restored my soul. He hath led me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
BrentonWho shall go up to the mountain of the Lord, and who shall stand in his holy place?
GreekΤίς ἀναβήσεται εἰς τὸ ὄρος τοῦ Κυρίου, καὶ τίς στήσεται ἐν τόπῳ ἁγίῳ αὐτοῦ;

ThomsonFor though I walk amidst the shades of death: I will fear no ills, because Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff have been my comfort.
BrentonHe that is innocent in his hands and pure in his heart; who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbour.
GreekἈθῶος χερσὶ καὶ καθαρὸς τῇ καρδίᾳ, ὃς οὐκ ἔλαβεν ἐπὶ ματαίῳ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ὤμοσεν ἐπὶ δόλῳ τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦ.

ThomsonThou hast spread a table before me; in the presence of them who afflict me. With oil Thou hast anointed my head; and Thine exhilarating cup is the very best.
BrentonHe shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God his Saviour.
GreekΟὗτος λήψεται εὐλογίαν παρὰ Κυρίου, καὶ ἐλεημοσύνην παρὰ Θεοῦ σωτῆρος αὐτοῦ.

ThomsonThy mercy will surely follow me all the days of my life; and my dwelling shall be in the house of the Lord to length of days.
BrentonThis is the generation of them that seek him, that seek the face of the God of Jacob. Pause.
GreekΑὕτη ἡ γενεὰ ζητούντων αὐτὸν, ζητούντων τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ Θεοῦ Ἰακώβ. διάψαλμα.

BrentonLift up your gates, ye princes, and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the king of glory shall come in.
GreekἌρατε πύλας οἱ ἄρχοντες ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐπάρθητε πύλαι αἰώνιοι, καὶ εἰσελεύσεται ὁ βασιλεὺς τῆς δόξης.

BrentonWho is this king of glory? the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
GreekΤίς ἐστιν οὗτος ὁ βασιλεὺς τῆς δόξης; Κύριος κραταιὸς καὶ δυνατὸς, Κύριος δυνατὸς ἐν πολέμῳ.
