Thomson—
BrentonHe that feareth the Lord will do good; and he that hath the knowledge of the law shall obtain her;
GreekὉ φοβούμενος Κύριον ποιήσει αὐτὸ, καὶ ὁ ἐγκρατὴς τοῦ νόμου καταλήψεται αὐτήν·

Thomson—
Brentonand as a mother shall she meet him, and receive him as a wife married of a virgin.
Greekκαὶ ὑπαντήσεται αὐτῷ ὡς μήτηρ, καὶ ὡς γυνὴ παρθενίας προσδέξεται αὐτόν·

Thomson—
BrentonWith the bread of understanding shall she feed him, and give him the water of wisdom to drink.
Greekψωμιεῖ αὐτὸν ἄρτον συνέσεως, καὶ ὕδωρ σοφίας ποτίσει αὐτόν.

Thomson—
BrentonHe shall be stayed upon her, and shall not be moved; and shall rely upon her, and shall not be confounded.
GreekΣτηριχθήσεται ἐπʼ αὐτὴν καὶ οὐ μὴ κλιθῇ, καὶ ἐπʼ αὐτῆς ἐφέξει καὶ οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῇ.

Thomson—
BrentonShe shall exalt him above his neighbours, and in the midst of the congregation shall she open his mouth.
GreekΚαὶ ὑψώσει αὐτὸν παρὰ τοὺς πλησίον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐν μέσῳ ἐκκλησίας ἀνοίξει στόμα αὐτοῦ.

BrentonHe shall find joy and a crown of gladness, and she shall cause him to inherit an everlasting name.
GreekΕὐφροσύνην καὶ στέφανον ἀγαλλιάματος καὶ ὄνομα αἰώνιον κατακληρονομήσει.

BrentonBut foolish men shall not attain unto her, and sinners shall not see her.
GreekΟὐ μὴ καταλήψονται αὐτὴν ἄνθρωποι ἀσύνετοι, καὶ ἄνδρες ἁμαρτωλοὶ οὐ μὴ ἴδωσιν αὐτήν.

BrentonFor she is far from pride, and men that are liars cannot remember her.
GreekΜακράν ἐστιν ὑπερηφανίας, καὶ ἄνδρες ψεῦσται οὐ μὴ μνησθήσονται αὐτῆς.

BrentonPraise is not seemly in the mouth of a sinner, for it was not sent him of the Lord.
GreekΟὐχ ὡραῖος αἶνος ἐν στόματι ἁμαρτωλοῦ, ὅτι οὐ παρὰ Κυρίου ἀπεστάλη.

BrentonFor praise shall be uttered in wisdom, and the Lord will prosper it.
GreekἘν γὰρ σοφίᾳ ῥηθήσεται αἶνος, καὶ ὁ Κύριος εὐοδώσει αὐτόν.

BrentonSay not thou, It is through the Lord that I fell away: for thou oughtest not to do the things that he hateth.
GreekΜὴ εἴπῃς, ὅτι διὰ Κύριον ἀπέστην· ἃ γὰρ ἐμίσησεν, οὐ ποιήσεις.

BrentonSay not thou, He hath caused me to err: for he hath no need of the sinful man.
GreekΜὴ εἴπῃς, ὅτι αὐτός με ἐπλάνησεν· οὐ γὰρ χρείαν ἔχει ἀνδρὸς ἁμαρτωλοῦ.

BrentonThe Lord hateth all abomination; and they that fear God love it not.
GreekΠᾶν βδέλυγμα ἐμίσησε Κύριος, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἀγαπητὸν τοῖς φοβουμένοις αὐτόν.

BrentonHe himself made man from the beginning, and left him in the hand of his counsel;
GreekΑὐτὸς ἐξ ἀρχῆς ἐποίησεν ἄνθρωπον, καὶ ἀφῆκεν αὐτὸν ἐν χειρὶ διαβουλίου αὐτοῦ.

Brentonif thou wilt, to keep the commandments, and to perform acceptable faithfulness.
GreekἘὰν θέλῃς, συντηρήσεις ἐντολὰς, καὶ πίστιν ποιῆσαι εὐδοκίας.

BrentonHe hath set fire and water before thee: stretch forth thy hand unto whether thou wilt.
GreekΠαρέθηκέ σοι πῦρ καὶ ὕδωρ, οὗ ἐὰν θέλῃς ἐκτενεῖς τὴν χεῖρά σου.

BrentonBefore man is life and death; and whether he liketh shall be given him.
GreekἜναντι ἀνθρώπων ἡ ζωὴ καὶ ὁ θάνατος, καὶ ὃ ἐὰν εὐδοκήσῃ δοθήσεται αὐτῷ.

BrentonFor the wisdom of the Lord is great, and he is mighty in power, and beholdeth all things:
GreekὍτι πολλὴ σοφία τοῦ Κυρίου, ἰσχυρὸς ἐν δυναστείᾳ καὶ βλέπων τὰ πάντα.

Thomson—
Brentonand his eyes are upon them that fear him, and he knoweth every work of man.
GreekΚαὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς φοβουμένους αὐτὸν, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπιγνώσεται πᾶν ἔργον ἀνθρώπου.

BrentonHe hath commanded no man to do wickedly, neither hath he given any man licence to sin.
GreekΚαὶ οὐκ ἐνετείλατο οὐδενὶ ἀσεβεῖν, καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν ἄνεσιν οὐδενὶ ἁμαρτάνειν.
