all the turbulent and bad men among the warriors, who went with David, answered and said, Because they did not accompany us in the pursuit we will not give them any of the spoils which we have taken, save that everyone may take his wife and children. Let them take these and depart.

Then every ill-disposed and bad man of the soldiers who had gone with David, answered and said, Because they did not pursue together with us, we will not give them of the spoils which we have recovered, only let each one lead away with him his wife and his children, and let them return.

Καὶ ἀπεκρίθη πᾶς ἀνὴρ λοιμὸς καὶ πονηρὸς τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν πορευθέντων μετὰ Δαυὶδ, καὶ εἶπον, ὅτι οὐ κατεδίωξαν μεθʼ ἡμῶν, οὐ δώσομεν αὐτοῖς ἐκ τῶν σκύλων ὧν ἐξειλόμεθα, ὅτι ἀλλʼ ἢ ἕκαστος τὴς γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτοῦ ἀπαγέσθωσαν, καὶ ἀποστρεφέτωσαν.
