But the children of the murderers he did not put to death. As it is written in the book of the laws of Moses—as the Lord commanded saying, Fathers shall not be put to death for children; nor shall children be put to death for fathers; for everyone shall die for his own sins.

Καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν παταξάντων οὐκ ἐθανάτωσε, καθὼς γέγραπται ἐν βιβλίῳ νόμων Μωυσῆ, ὡς ἐνετείλατο Κύριος, λέγων, οὐκ ἀποθανοῦνται πατέρες ὑπὲρ υἱῶν, καὶ υἱοὶ οὐκ ἀποθανοῦνται ὑπὲρ πατέρων, ὅτι ἀλλʼ ἢ ἕκαστος ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτοῦ ἀποθανεῖται.
