ThomsonAGAIN a word of the Lord came to me, saying,

Greekυἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, ἐπίστρεψον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἐπʼ ὄρος Σηεὶρ, καὶ προφήτευσον εἰς αὐτὸ,

ThomsonThus saith the Lord God: Behold I am against thee, mountain of Seir; and I will stretch forth My hand against thee, and make thee a desert and thou shalt be desolate.

Brentonand say to it, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and will make thee a waste, and thou shalt be made desolate.

Greekκαὶ εἰπὸν αὐτῷ, Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Κύριος, ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπὶ σὲ ὄρος Σηεὶρ, καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπὶ σὲ, καὶ δώσω σε εἰς ἔρημον, καὶ ἐρημωθήσῃ,

ThomsonAnd I will make a devastation among thy cities, and thou shalt be a desert and shalt know that I am the Lord.

BrentonAnd I will cause desolation in thy cities, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

Greekκαὶ ταῖς πόλεσί σου ἐρημίαν ποιήσω, καὶ σὺ ἔρημος ἔσῃ, καὶ γνώσῃ ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος.

ThomsonBecause thou hast been a perpetual enemy and didst deceitfully lie in wait for the house of Israel—hast been a sword in the hand of enemies in the time of revolt, in their last extremity;

BrentonBecause thou hast been a perpetual enemy, and hast laid wait craftily for the house of Israel, with the hand of enemies with a sword, in the time of injustice, at the last:

GreekἈντὶ τοῦ γενέσθαι σε ἐχθρὰν αἰωνίαν, καὶ ἐνεκάθισας τῷ οἴκῳ Ἰσραὴλ δόλῳ, ἐν χειρὶ ἐχθρῶν μαχαίρᾳ ἐν καιρῷ ἀδικίας, ἐπʼ ἐσχάτων.

Thomsontherefore as I live, saith the Lord God: As thou hast sinned unto blood, so blood shall pursue thee.

BrentonTherefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, verily thou hast sinned even to blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee.

GreekΔιατοῦτο ζῶ ἐγὼ, λέγει Κύριος Κύριος, εἰ μὴν εἰς αἷμα ἥμαρτες, καὶ αἷμα διώξεταί σε.

ThomsonAnd I will make the mountain of Seir an entire desert; and I will destroy from it men and cattle,

BrentonAnd I will make mount Seir a waste, and desolate, and I will destroy from off it men and cattle:

GreekΚαὶ δώσω ὄρος Σηεὶρ εἰς ἔρημον, καὶ ἠρημωμένον, καὶ ἀπολῶ ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ ἀνθρώπους καὶ κτήνη,

Thomsonand fill with the wounded thy hills and thy valleys: and in all thy plains, the victims of the sword shall fall in thee.

Brentonand I will fill thy hills and thy valleys with slain men, and in all thy plains there shall fall in thee men slain with the sword.

Greekκαὶ ἐμπλήσω τῶν τραυματιῶν βουνούς σου καὶ τὰς φάραγγάς σου, καὶ ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς πεδίοις σου τετραυματισμένοι μαχαίρᾳ πεσοῦνται ἐν σοί.

GreekἘρημίαν αἰώνιον θήσομαί σε, καὶ αἱ πόλεις σου οὐ μὴ κατοικηθῶσιν ἔτι, καὶ γνώσῃ ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος.

ThomsonBecause thou saidst, The two nations and the two countries shall be mine, and I will possess them, though the Lord is there.

GreekΔιὰ τὸ εἰπεῖν σε, τὰ δύο ἔθνη, καὶ αἱ δύο χῶραι ἐμαὶ ἔσονται, καὶ κληρονομήσω αὐτὰς, καὶ Κύριος ἐκεῖ ἐστι·

ThomsonTherefore, as I live saith the Lord, I will deal with thee according to thine enmity, and be made known to thee, when I judge thee;

GreekΔιατοῦτο ζῶ ἐγὼ, λέγει Κύριος, καὶ ποιήσω σοι κατὰ τὴν ἔχθραν σου, καὶ γνωσθήσομαί σοι ἡνίκα ἂν κρινῶ σε,

Thomsonand thou shalt know that I am the Lord. I have heard the sound of thy revilings; because thou saidst, The waste mountains of Israel are given us to be devoured,

Brentonand thou shalt know that I am the Lord. I have heard the voice of thy blasphemies, whereas thou hast said, The desert mountains of Israel are given to us for food;

Greekκαὶ γνώσῃ ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος· ἤκουσα τῆς φωνῆς τῶν βλασφημιῶν σου, ὅτι εἶπας, τὰ ὄρη Ἰσραὴλ ἔρημα ἡμῖν δέδοται εἰς κατάβρωμα,

Thomsonand didst utter swelling words against me with thy mouth. I heard them;

Brentonand thou hast spoken swelling words against me with thy mouth: I have heard them.

Greekκαὶ ἐμεγαλοῤῥημόνησας ἐπʼ ἐμὲ τῷ στόματί σου, ἐγὼ ἤκουσα.

Thomsontherefore thus saith the Lord: To the joy of the whole land I will make thee a desert.

BrentonThus saith the Lord; When all the earth is rejoicing, I will make thee desert.
