ThomsonTHE Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
BrentonAnd the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
GreekΚαὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν, λέγων,

ThomsonGive orders to the children of Israel, and let them bring the oil, pure expressed oil for light, that a lamp may burn continually,
BrentonCharge the children of Israel, and let them take for thee pure olive oil beaten for the light, to burn a lamp continually,
Greekἔντειλαι τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ λαβέτωσάν σοι ἔλαιον ἐλάϊνον καθαρὸν κεκομμένον εἰς φῶς, καῦσαι λύχνον διαπαντὸς,

Thomsonwithout the veil, in the tabernacle of the testimony. And Aaron and his sons shall keep it burning, from evening till morning, continually, before the Lord. It is an everlasting statute for your generations.
Brentonoutside the veil in the tabernacle of witness; and Aaron and his sons shall burn it from evening until morning before the Lord continually, a perpetual statute throughout your generations.
Greekἔξωθεν τοῦ καταπετάσματος ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου· καὶ καύσουσιν αὐτὸ Ἀαρὼν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ ἑσπέρας ἕως πρωῒ ἐνώπιον Κυρίου ἐνδελεχῶς, νόμιμον αἰώνιον εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν.

ThomsonYou shall keep the lamps burning on the pure candlestick before the Lord, until the morning.
BrentonYe shall burn the lamps on the pure lamp-stand before the Lord till the morrow.
GreekἘπὶ τῆς λυχνίας τῆς καθαρᾶς καύσετε τοὺς λύχνους ἐναντίον Κυρίου ἕως εἰς τοπρωΐ.

ThomsonAnd you shall take fine flour, and make it into twelve loaves, every loaf shall consist of two tenths;
BrentonAnd ye shall take fine flour, and make of it twelve loaves; each loaf shall be of two tenth parts.
GreekΚαὶ λήμψεσθε σεμίδαλιν, καὶ ποιήσετε αὐτὴν δώδεκα ἄρτους· δύο δεκάτων ἔσται ὁ ἄρτος ὁ εἷς.

Thomsonand you shall lay them in two piles, six loaves in each pile, on the pure table before the Lord.
BrentonAnd ye shall put them in two rows, each row containing six loaves, on the pure table before the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ ἐπιθήσετε αὐτοὺς δύο θέματα, ἓξ ἄρτους τὸ ἓν θέμα ἐπὶ τὴν τράπεζαν τὴν καθαρὰν ἔναντι Κυρίου.

ThomsonAnd on each pile you shall lay pure frankincense, and salt. They shall be set before the Lord for loaves of remembrance.
BrentonAnd ye shall put on each row pure frankincense and salt; and these things shall be for loaves for a memorial, set forth before the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ ἐπιθήσετε ἐπὶ τὸ θέμα λίβανον καθαρὸν καὶ ἅλα, καὶ ἔσονται εἰς ἄρτους εἰς ἀνάμνησιν προκείμενα τῷ Κυρίῳ.

ThomsonOn the day of the sabbaths they shall be set continually before the Lord, in the sight of the children of Israel, as an everlasting covenant;
BrentonOn the sabbath-day they shall be set forth before the Lord continually before the children of Israel, for an everlasting covenant.
GreekΤῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν σαββάτων προσθήσεται ἔναντι Κυρίου διαπαντὸς ἐνώπιον τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ, διαθήκην αἰώνιον.

Thomsonand they shall be for Aaron and his sons. And they shall eat them in a holy place; for they are most holy. This shall be their peculiar due, for ever, from those things sacrificed to the Lord.
BrentonAnd they shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat them in the holy place: for this is their most holy portion of the offerings made to the Lord, a perpetual statute.
GreekΚαὶ ἔσται Ἀαρὼν καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ· καὶ φάγονται αὐτὰ ἐν τόπῳ ἁγίῳ· ἔστι γὰρ ἅγια τῶν ἁγίῳν τοῦτο αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῶν θυσιαζομένων τῷ Κυρίῳ, νόμιμον αἰώνιον.

ThomsonNow there had come out among the Israelites a son of an Israelitish woman, but his father was an Egyptian. And this son of the Israelitish woman, and a man who was an Israelite, quarrelled in the camp.
BrentonAnd there went forth a son of an Israelitish woman, and he was son of an Egyptian man among the sons of Israel; and they fought in the camp, the son of the Israelitish woman, and a man who was an Israelite.
GreekΚαὶ ἐξῆλθεν υἱὸς γυναικὸς Ἰσραηλίτιδος, καὶ οὗτος ἦν υἱὸς Αἰγυπτίου ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ· καὶ ἐμαχέσαντο ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ ὁ ἐκ τῆς Ἰσραηλίτιδος, καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ Ἰσραηλίτης.

ThomsonAnd the son of the Israelitish woman having named the name [of God], cursed it. Upon which they brought him before Moses. Now his mother’s name was Salomith, she was a daughter of Dabri, of the tribe of Dan.
BrentonAnd the son of the Israelitish woman named THE NAME and cursed; and they brought him to Moses: and his mother's name was Salomith, daughter of Dabri of the tribe of Dan.

ThomsonAnd when they had committed him to custody, to pass sentence on him by the decree of the Lord,
BrentonAnd they put him in ward, to judge him by the command of the Lord.

ThomsonLead out him who cursed, without the camp, and all who heard shall lay their hands on his head, and all the congregation shall stone him.
BrentonBring forth him that cursed outside the camp, and all who heard shall lay their hands upon his head, and all the congregation shall stone him.
Greekἐξάγαγε τὸν καταρασάμενον ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς, καὶ ἐπιθήσουσι πάντες οἱ ἀκούσαντες τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ λιθοβολήσουσιν αὐτὸν πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγή.

ThomsonThen speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, Be the man who he may who shall curse a god, he shall contract guilt;
BrentonAnd speak to the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, Whosoever shall curse God shall bear his sin.
GreekΚαὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ λάλησον, καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτοὺς, ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἐὰν καταράσηται Θεὸν, ἁμαρτίαν λήψεται.

Thomsonbut let him who nameth the name of the Lord be put to death. Let the whole congregation of Israel stone him with stones; whether he be a proselyte, or born among them, when he nameth the name of the Lord, let him die.
BrentonAnd he that names the name of the Lord, let him die the death: let all the congregation of Israel stone him with stones; whether he be a stranger or a native, let him die for naming the name of the Lord.
GreekὈνομάζων δὲ τὸ ὄνομα Κυρίου, θανάτῳ θανατούσθω· λίθοις λιθοβολείτω αὐτὸν πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγὴ Ἰσραήλ· ἐάν τε προσήλυτος ἐάν τε αὐτόχθων, ἐν τῷ ὀνομάσαι αὐτὸν τὸ ὄνομα Κυρίου, τελευτάτω.

ThomsonAnd whosoever smiteth another so that he die, let him be put to death.
BrentonAnd whosoever shall smite a man and he die, let him die the death.
GreekΚαὶ ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἂν πατάξῃ ψυχὴν ἀνθρώπου, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, θανάτῳ θανατούσθω.

ThomsonAnd whosoever shall smite a beast, so that it die, let him make compensation, beast for beast.
BrentonAnd whosoever shall smite a beast, and it shall die, let him render life for life.
GreekΚαὶ ὃς ἂν πατάξῃ κτῆνος, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, ἀποτισάτω ψυχὴν ἀντὶ ψυχῆς.

ThomsonAnd whosoever shall cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done to him, so shall it be done to himself;
BrentonAnd whosoever shall inflict a blemish on his neighbour, as he has done to him, so shall it be done to himself in return;
GreekΚαὶ ἐάν τις δῷ μῶμον τῷ πλησίον, ὡς ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ, ὡσαύτως ἀντιποιηθήσεται αὐτῷ·

Thomsonbruise for bruise; eye for eye; tooth for tooth; according to the blemish he hath given the man, so shall it be returned to him.
Brentonbruise for bruise, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as any one may inflict a blemish on a man, so shall it be rendered to him.
GreekΣύντριμμα ἀντὶ συντρίμματος, ὀφθαλμὸν ἀντὶ ὀφθαλμοῦ, ὀδόντα ἀντὶ ὀδόντος, καθότι ἂν δῷ μῶμον τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ, οὕτω δοθήσεται αὐτῷ.

ThomsonWhosoever shall smite a man so that he die, let him be put to death,
BrentonWhosoever shall smite a man, and he shall die, let him die the death.
GreekὋς ἂν πατάξῃ ἄνθρωπον, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, θανάτῳ θανατούσθω.

Thomsonshall be one and the same decision for the proselyte, and for the neighbour; for I am the Lord your God.
BrentonThere shall be one judgment for the stranger and the native, for I am the Lord your God.
GreekΔικαίωσις μία ἔσται τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ἐγχωρίῳ, ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ὑμῶν.

ThomsonThereupon Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and they brought forth him who had cursed without the camp, and stoned him with stones. And when the children of Israel had done as the Lord commanded Moses,—
BrentonAnd Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and they brought him that had cursed out of the camp, and stoned him with stones: and the children of Israel did as the Lord commanded Moses.
GreekΚαὶ ἐλάλησε Μωυσῆς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ· καὶ ἐξήγαγον τὸν καταρασάμενον ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς, καὶ ἐλιθοβόλησαν αὐτὸν ἐν λίθοις· καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ ἐποίησαν καθάπερ συνέταξε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ.
