ThomsonMake for thyself two silver trumpets. Thou shalt make them of ductile silver, each beaten out of one piece. And they shall serve thee to assemble the congregation, and to cause the camps to remove.
BrentonMake to thyself two silver trumpets: thou shalt make them of beaten work; and they shall be to thee for the purpose of calling the assembly, and of removing the camps.

ThomsonWhen thou shalt blow with them, all the congregation shall assemble at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony;
BrentonAnd thou shalt sound with them, and all the congregation shall be gathered to the door of the tabernacle of witness.

Thomsonbut when one is blown, all the chiefs, the leaders of Israel, shall come to thee.
BrentonAnd if they shall sound with one, all the rulers even the princes of Israel shall come to thee.

ThomsonWhen you blow an alarm, the camps on the east shall begin their march;
BrentonAnd ye shall sound an alarm, and the camps pitched eastward shall begin to move.
Greekκαὶ σαλπιεῖτε σημασίαν, καὶ ἐξαροῦσιν αἱ παρεμβάλλουσαι αἱ παρεμβαλοῦσαι ἀνατολάς·

Thomsonand when you blow a second alarm, the camps on the south shall begin their march; and when you blow a third alarm, the camps on the west shall begin their march; and when you blow a fourth alarm, the camps on the north shall begin their march. They shall blow an alarm for their marching.
BrentonAnd ye shall sound a second alarm, and the camps pitched southward shall move; and ye shall sound a third alarm, and the camps pitched westward shall move forward; and ye shall sound a fourth alarm, and they that encamp toward the north shall move forward: they shall sound an alarm at their departure.

ThomsonAnd when you would assemble the congregation, you are to blow with them, but not an alarm.
BrentonAnd whenever ye shall gather the assembly, ye shall sound, but not an alarm.

ThomsonThe sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. This shall be a perpetual ordinance for you, throughout your generations.
BrentonAnd the priests the sons of Aaron shall sound with the trumpets; and it shall be a perpetual ordinance for you throughout your generations.

ThomsonAnd when you go out to battle in your land, against your enemies, who have risen up against you, you shall sound these trumpets, that you may be brought into remembrance before the Lord, and saved from your enemies.
BrentonAnd if ye shall go forth to war in your land against your enemies that are opposed to you, then shall ye sound with the trumpets; and ye shall be had in remembrance before the Lord, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

ThomsonIn the days of your rejoicings also, and at your festivals, and at your new moons, you shall blow the trumpets, at your whole burnt offerings, and at your sacrifices of thanksgivings; and it shall be a calling of you into remembrance before your God—I the Lord your God.
BrentonAnd in the days of your gladness, and in your feasts, and in your new moons, ye shall sound with the trumpets at your whole-burnt-offerings, and at the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; and there shall be a memorial for you before your God: I am the Lord your God.

BrentonAnd they shall take down the tabernacle, and the sons of Gedson shall set forward, and the sons of Merari, who bear the tabernacle.

Thomsonthen were the Kaathites to move on, carrying the holy things, so that the tabernacle might be set up when they arrived.
BrentonAnd the sons of Caath shall set forward bearing the holy things, and the others shall set up the tabernacle until they arrive.

ThomsonNow when they began their march Moses said to Obad, son of Raguel the Madianite, the brother in law of Moses, We are now on our march to the place which the Lord said, This I will give you. Come with us and we will deal well with thee; for the Lord hath spoken good things concerning Israel.
BrentonAnd Moses said to Obab the son of Raguel the Madianite, the father-in-law of Moses, We are going forward to the place concerning which the Lord said, This will I give to you: Come with us, and we will do thee good, for the Lord has spoken good concerning Israel.

ThomsonIn reply to which he said, I cannot go, but must return to my own land, and to my family.

ThomsonWhereupon Moses said, Thou must not leave us. Because thou hast been with us in the wilderness, therefore thou shalt be a senator among us,
BrentonAnd he said, Leave us not, because thou hast been with us in the wilderness, and thou shalt be an elder among us.

Thomsonand shalt share—if thou go with us, thou shalt indeed share in all those good things which the Lord will bestow upon us, and we will deal kindly with thee.
BrentonAnd it shall come to pass if thou wilt go with us, it shall even come to pass that in whatsoever things the Lord shall do us good, we will also do thee good.
GreekΚαὶ ἔσται ἐὰν πορευθῇς μεθʼ ἡμῶν, καὶ ἔσται τὰ ἀγαθὰ ἐκεῖνα ὅσα ἂν ἀγαθοποιήσῃ Κύριος ἡμᾶς, καὶ εὖ σε ποιήσομεν.

ThomsonSo they removed from the mount of the Lord, three days’ journey, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them the three days’ journey, to look out for them a resting place.
BrentonAnd they departed from the mount of the Lord a three days' journey; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them a three days' journey to provide rest for them.

ThomsonNow the cloud was overshadowing them by day, as they marched out of the camp.
BrentonAnd it came to pass when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Arise, O Lord, and let thine enemies be scattered: let all that hate thee flee.
GreekΚαὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐξαίρειν τὴν κιβωτὸν, καὶ εἶπε Μωυσῆς, ἐξεγέρθητι Κύριε, καὶ διασκορπισθήτωσαν οἱ ἐχθροί σου, φυγέτωσαν πάντες οἱ μισοῦντές σε.

ThomsonAnd when the ark set forward Moses said, Arise, O Lord, and let thine enemies be scattered. Let them who hate Thee be put to flight.
BrentonAnd in the resting he said, Turn again, O Lord, the thousands and tens of thousands in Israel.
GreekΚαὶ ἐν τῇ καταπαύσει εἶπεν, ἐπίστρεφε Κύριε χιλιάδας μυριάδας ἐν τῷ Ἰσραήλ.

ThomsonAnd when it halted he said, Return, O Lord, to the thousand myriads of Israel.
BrentonAnd the cloud overshadowed them by day, when they departed from the camp.
GreekΚαὶ ἡ νεφέλη ἐγένετο σκιάζουσα ἐπʼ αὐτοῖς ἡμέρας, ἐν τῷ ἐξαίρειν αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῆς παρεμβολῆς.
