ThomsonO GIVE thanks to the Lord, for He is good: for to everlasting His mercy endureth.
BrentonAlleluia. Blessed are the blameless in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
GreekἈλληλούϊα. Μακάριοι ἄμωμοι ἐν ὁδῷ, οἱ πορευόμενοι ἐν νόμῳ Κυρίου.

ThomsonO! let the house of Israel say, For He is good. For to everlasting His mercy endureth.
BrentonBlessed are they that search out his testimonies: they will diligently seek him with the whole heart.
GreekΜακάριοι οἱ ἐξερευνῶντες τὰ μαρτύρια αὐτοῦ, ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ ἐκζητήσουσιν αὐτόν.

ThomsonO! let the house of Aaron say, For He is good. For to everlasting His mercy endureth.
BrentonFor they that work iniquity have not walked in his ways.
GreekΟὐ γὰρ οἱ ἐργαζόμενοι τὴν ἀνομίαν ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ ἐπορεύθησαν.

ThomsonLet all who fear the Lord say, For He is good. For to everlasting His mercy endureth.
BrentonThou hast commanded us diligently to keep thy precepts.
GreekΣὺ ἐνετείλω τὰς ἐντολάς σου, τοῦ φυλάξασθαι σφόδρα.

ThomsonBecause of affliction I called on the Lord, and He heard me for enlargement.
BrentonO that my ways were directed to keep thine ordinances.
GreekὌφελον κατευθυνθείησαν αἱ ὁδοί μου, τοῦ φυλάξασθαι τὰ δικαιώματά σου.

ThomsonHaving the Lord for my helper, I will not fear what man can do to me.
BrentonThen shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect to all thy commandments.
GreekΤότε οὐ μὴ αἰσχυνθῶ, ἐν τῷ με ἐπιβλέπειν ἐπὶ πάσας τὰς ἐντολάς σου.

ThomsonHaving the Lord for my helper, I shall look down on mine enemies.
BrentonI will give thee thanks with uprightness of heart, when I have learnt the judgments of thy righteousness.
GreekἘξομολογήσομαί σοι ἐν εὐθύτητι καρδίας, ἐν τῷ μεμαθηκέναι με τὰ κρίματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης σου.

ThomsonIt is better to confide in the Lord than to confide in man;
BrentonI will keep thine ordinances: O forsake me not greatly.
GreekΤὰ δικαιώματά σου φυλάξω, μή με ἐγκαταλίπῃς ἕως σφόδρα.

Thomsonit is better to trust the Lord than put confidence in princes.
BrentonWherewith shall a young man direct his way? by keeping thy words.
GreekἘν τίνι κατορθώσει νεώτερος τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ; ἐν τῷ φυλάξασθαι τοὺς λόγους σου.

ThomsonAll the nations compassed me about: but by the name of the Lord I was avenged of them.
BrentonWith my whole heart have I diligently sought thee: cast me not away from thy commandments.
GreekἘν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ μου ἐξεζήτησά σε, μὴ ἀπώσῃ με ἀπὸ τῶν ἐντολῶν σου.

ThomsonCompassing me about they beset me, but by the name of the Lord I was avenged of them.
BrentonI have hidden thine oracles in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.
GreekἘν τῇ καρδίᾳ μου ἔκρυψα τὰ λόγιά σου, ὅπως ἂν μὴ ἁμάρτω σοι.

ThomsonThey encompassed me as bees do a honeycomb: and blazed furiously like fire among thorns;—but by the name of the Lord I was avenged of them.
BrentonBlessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thine ordinances.
GreekΕὐλογητὸς εἶ Κύριε, δίδαξόν με τὰ δικαιώματά σου.

ThomsonBeing hard-pressed, I was on the point of falling: but the Lord Himself supported me.
BrentonWith my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
GreekἘν τοῖς χείλεσί μου ἐξήγγειλα πάντα τὰ κρίματα τοῦ στόματός σου.

ThomsonThe Lord is my strength and my song of praise—He indeed was my salvation.—
BrentonI have delighted in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
GreekἘν τῇ ὁδῷ τῶν μαρτυρίων σου ἐτέρφθην, ὡς ἐπὶ παντὶ πλούτῳ.

ThomsonA sound of joy and deliverance in the tents of the righteous! The right hand of the Lord hath exerted power!
BrentonI will meditate on thy commandments, and consider thy ways.
GreekἘν ταῖς ἐντολαῖς σου ἀδολεσχήσω, καὶ κατανοήσω τὰς ὁδούς σου.

ThomsonThe right hand of the Lord hath exalted me; the right hand of the Lord hath exerted power.
BrentonI will meditate on thine ordinances: I will not forget thy words.
GreekἘν τοῖς δικαιώμασί σου μελετήσω, οὐκ ἐπιλήσομαι τῶν λόγων σου.

ThomsonI shall not die: but live and proclaim the works of the Lord.
BrentonRender a recompence to thy servant: so shall I live, and keep thy words.
GreekἈνταπόδος τῷ δούλῳ σου, ζήσομαι καὶ φυλάξω τοὺς λόγους σου.

ThomsonWith correction, the Lord corrected me: but did not deliver me up to death.
BrentonUnveil thou mine eyes, and I shall perceive wondrous things out of thy law.
GreekἈποκάλυψον τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς μου, καὶ κατανοήσω τὰ θαυμάσια ἐκ τοῦ νόμου σου.

ThomsonOpen for me the gates of righteousness, and I will go in at them and give thanks to the Lord.
BrentonI am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
GreekΠάροικος ἐγώ εἰμι ἐν τῇ γῇ, μὴ ἀποκρύψῃς ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ τὰς ἐντολάς σου.

ThomsonThis is the gate of the Lord, at it the righteous are to enter.
BrentonMy soul has longed exceedingly for thy judgments at all times.
GreekἘπεπόθησεν ἡ ψυχή μου τοῦ ἐπιθυμῆσαι τὰ κρίματά σου ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ.

ThomsonI will praise thee because thou didst hear me, and hast been unto me salvation.
BrentonThou hast rebuked the proud: cursed are they that turn aside from thy commandments.
GreekἘπετίμησας ὑπερηφάνοις, ἐπικατάρατοι οἱ ἐκκλίνοντες ἀπὸ τῶν ἐντολῶν σου.

ThomsonThe stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner.
BrentonRemove from me reproach and contempt; for I have sought out thy testimonies.
GreekΠερίελε ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ ὄνειδος καὶ ἐξουδένωσιν, ὅτι τὰ μαρτύριά σου ἐξεζήτησα.

ThomsonThis [salvation] was from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes.
BrentonFor princes sat and spoke against me: but thy servant was meditating on thine ordinances.
GreekΚαὶ γὰρ ἐκάθισαν ἄρχοντες, καὶ κατʼ ἐμοῦ κατελάλουν, ὁ δὲ δοῦλός σου ἠδολέσχει ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασί σου.

ThomsonThis is the day which the Lord made: on it let us rejoice and be glad.
BrentonFor thy testimonies are my meditation, and thine ordinances are my counsellors.
GreekΚαὶ γὰρ τὰ μαρτύριά σου μελέτη μου ἐστὶ, καὶ αἱ συμβουλίαι μου τὰ δικαιώματά σου.

ThomsonO Lord save, I beseech Thee: O Lord, I beseech Thee, prosper.
BrentonMy soul has cleaved to the ground; quicken thou me according to thy word.
GreekἘκολλήθη τῷ ἐδάφει ἡ ψυχή μου, ζῆσόν με κατὰ τὸ λόγον σου.

ThomsonBlessed be he who is coming in the name of the Lord; we have blessed you of the house of the Lord.
BrentonI declared my ways, and thou didst hear me; teach me thine ordinances.
GreekΤὰς ὁδούς σου ἐξήγγειλα καὶ ἐπήκουσάς μου, δίδαξόν με τὰ δικαιώματά σου.

ThomsonGod is Lord, and He hath shined upon us. Solemnise a festival with thick boughs, even to the horns of the altar.
BrentonInstruct me in the way of thine ordinances; and I will meditate on thy wondrous works.
GreekὉδὸν δικαιωμάτων σου συνέτισόν με, καὶ ἀδολεσχήσω ἐν τοῖς θαυμασίοις σου.

ThomsonThou art my God and I will praise Thee; Thou art my God and I will exalt Thee: I will praise Thee, because Thou hast heard me; and hast been unto me salvation.
BrentonMy soul has slumbered for sorrow; strengthen thou me with thy words.
GreekἘνύσταξεν ἡ ψυχή μου ἀπὸ ἀκηδίας, βεβαίωσόν με ἐν τοῖς λόγοις σου.

BrentonI have chosen the way of truth; and have not forgotten thy judgments.

BrentonI have cleaved to thy testimonies, O Lord; put me not to shame.

BrentonI ran the way of thy commandments, when thou didst enlarge my heart.

BrentonTeach me, O Lord, the way of thine ordinances, and I will seek it out continually.

BrentonInstruct me, and I will search out thy law, and will keep it with my whole heart.

BrentonGuide me in the path of thy commandments; for I have delighted in it.

BrentonTurn away mine eyes that I may not behold vanity: quicken thou me in thy way.

BrentonConfirm thine oracle to thy servant, that he may fear thee.

BrentonAnd so I shall render an answer to them that reproach me: for I have trusted in thy words.

BrentonAnd take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.

BrentonI am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy commandments.

BrentonBefore I was afflicted, I transgressed; therefore have I kept thy word.

BrentonThy hands have made me, and fashioned me: instruct me, that I may learn thy commandments.

BrentonThey that fear thee will see me and rejoice: for I have hoped in thy words.

BrentonHow many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment for me on them that persecute me?

BrentonAll thy commandments are truth; they persecuted me unjustly; help thou me.

BrentonThey nearly made an end of me in the earth; but I forsook not thy commandments.
