ThomsonGOD is our refuge and strength; our helper in the troubles which often befall us.
BrentonFor the end, a Psalm for the sons of Core.
GreekΕἰς τὸ τέλος, ὑπὲρ τῶν υἱῶν Κορὲ ψαλμός.

ThomsonTherefore we will not be dismayed, though the earth be shaken, and mountains be hurled to the midst of seas.
BrentonClap your hands, all ye nations; shout to God with a voice of exultation.
GreekΠαντὰ τὰ ἔθνη κροτήσατε χεῖρας, ἀλαλάξατε τῷ Θεῷ ἐν φωνῇ ἀγαλλιάσεως.

ThomsonTheir waters roared and were troubled. By His power the mountains were convulsed.
BrentonFor the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great king over all the earth.
GreekὍτι Κύριος ὕψιστος, φοβερὸς, βασιλεὺς μέγας ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν.

ThomsonThe swelling streams of this river gladden the city of God: the Most High hath hallowed His own dwelling:
BrentonHe has subdued the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet.
GreekὙπέταξε λαοὺς ἡμῖν, καὶ ἔθνη ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας ἡμῶν·

ThomsonGod is in the midst of it; it cannot be shaken; God by His presence will support it.
BrentonHe has chosen out his inheritance for us, the beauty of Jacob which he loved. Pause.
GreekἘξελέξατο ἡμῖν τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ, τὴν καλλονὴν Ἰακὼβ, ἣν ἠγάπησε· διάψαλμα.

ThomsonThe nations were troubled, kingdoms tottered; He uttered His voice, the earth was shaken.
BrentonGod is gone up with a shout, the Lord with a sound of a trumpet.
GreekἈνέβη ὁ Θεὸς ἐν ἀλαλαγμῷ, Κύριος ἐν φωνῇ σάλπιγγος.

ThomsonThe Lord of Hosts is with us; our helper is the God of Jacob.
BrentonSing praises to our God, sing praises: sing praises to our King, sing praises.
GreekΨάλατε τῷ Θεῷ ἡμῶν, ψάλατε· ψάλατε τῷ βασιλεῖ ἡμῶν, ψάλατε.

ThomsonCome and see the works of the Lord— The wonders which He hath done on the earth:
BrentonFor God is king of all the earth: sing praises with understanding.
GreekὍτι βασιλεὺς πάσης τῆς γῆς ὁ Θεὸς, ψάλατε συνετῶς.

ThomsonHe is making wars to cease to the ends of the earth. He will break the bow and shiver the lance, and shields He will utterly consume with fire.
BrentonGod reigns over the nations: God sits upon the throne of his holiness.
GreekἘβασίλευσεν ὁ Θεὸς ἐπὶ τὰ ἔθνη, ὁ Θεὸς κάθηται ἐπὶ θρόνου ἁγίου αὐτοῦ.

ThomsonBe still and know that I am God: let Me be exalted among the nations, let Me be exalted in the earth.
BrentonThe rulers of the people are assembled with the God of Abraam: for God's mighty ones of the earth have been greatly exalted.
GreekἌρχοντες λαῶν συνήχθησαν μετὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ Ἀβραὰμ, ὅτι τοῦ Θεοῦ οἱ κραταιοὶ τῆς γῆς σφόδρα ἐπῄρθησαν.
