Greek · Brenton
1
ThomsonSAVE me, O God; for waters have broken in on my soul.
BrentonFor the end, by David for a remembrance, that the Lord may save me.
2
ThomsonI am sunk down into deep mire, and there is no support beneath. I am come into the depth of the sea, and a tempest hath overwhelmed me.
BrentonDraw nigh, O God, to my help.
3
ThomsonI am weary with crying; my throat is hoarse; and mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
BrentonLet them be ashamed and confounded that seek my soul: let them be turned backward and put to shame, that wish me evil.
4
ThomsonThey who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head. Mine enemies who persecute me wrongfully are become strong. I have made compensation on the spot for what I did not take by violence.
BrentonLet them that say to me, Aha, aha, be turned back and put to shame immediately.
5
ThomsonThou, O God, knowest my folly—and my trespasses are not hid from Thee.
BrentonLet all that seek thee exult and be glad in thee: and let those that love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
6
ThomsonLet not them who wait for Thee, O Lord of hosts, be put to shame on my account. Let not them be put to confusion for my sake, who are seeking Thee, O God of Israel.
BrentonBut I am poor and needy; O God, help me: thou art my helper and deliverer, O Lord, delay not.
