ThomsonIN Thee, O Lord, I have put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
BrentonFor Solomon. O God, give thy judgment to the king, and thy righteousness to the king's son;
GreekΕἰς Σαλωμών. Ὁ Θεὸς τὸ κρίμα σου τῷ βασιλεῖ δὸς, καὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην σου τῷ υἱῷ τοῦ βασιλέως·

ThomsonIn Thy saving mercy deliver me and rescue me: incline Thine ear to me and save me.
Brentonthat he may judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.
Greekκρίνειν τὸν λαόν σου ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ, καὶ τοὺς πτωχούς σου ἐν κρίσει.

ThomsonBe Thou to me a protecting God, and a place of strength to save me:
BrentonLet the mountains and the hills raise peace to thy people:

Thomsonfor Thou art my fortress and my refuge. O my God, deliver me out of a sinner’s hand—out of the hand of an unrighteous and cruel man.
Brentonhe shall judge the poor of the people in righteousness, and save the children of the needy; and shall bring low the false accuser.
Greekἐν δικαιοσύνῃ κρινεῖ τοὺς πτωχοὺς τοῦ λαοῦ, καὶ σώσει τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν πενήτων· καὶ ταπεινώσει συκοφάντην,

ThomsonFor Thou, O Lord, art mine expectation—Thou, Lord, art my hope, from my youth;
BrentonAnd he shall continue as long as the sun, and before the moon for ever.

Thomsonupon Thee I have leaned from the womb: from my birth Thou art my protector; Thou art the constant subject of my song.
BrentonHe shall come down as rain upon a fleece; and as drops falling upon the earth.

ThomsonTo many I became a wonder; but Thou wast my powerful assistant.
BrentonIn his days shall righteousness spring up; and abundance of peace till the moon be removed.

ThomsonLet my mouth be filled with praise, that I may celebrate Thy glory—Thy majesty, all the day long.

ThomsonCast me not off in the time of old age: forsake me not when my strength faileth.
BrentonThe Ethiopians shall fall down before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.

Thomsonsaying, “God hath forsaken him; pursue and take him, for he hath no deliverer.”
BrentonAnd all kings shall worship him; all the Gentiles shall serve him.

ThomsonO God, be not far from me; draw near, O my God, to my assistance.
BrentonFor he has delivered the poor from the oppressor; and the needy who had no helper.
GreekὍτι ἐῤῥύσατο πτωχὸν ἐκ δυνάστου, καὶ πένητα ᾧ οὐχ ὑπῆρχε βοηθός.

ThomsonLet them who plot against my life be confounded, and perish;—let them, who seek to do me hurt, be clothed with shame and confusion.
BrentonHe shall spare the poor and needy, and shall deliver the souls of the needy.

ThomsonBut as for me, I will hope continually; and I will yet praise Thee more and more.
BrentonHe shall redeem their souls from usury and injustice: and their name shall be precious before him.
GreekἘκ τόκου καὶ ἐξ ἀδικίας λυτρώσεται τὰς ψυχὰς αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔντιμον τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῶν ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ.

ThomsonMy mouth shall proclaim Thy saving mercy—Thy salvation all the day long.
BrentonAnd he shall live, and there shall be given him of the gold of Arabia: and men shall pray for him continually; and all the day shall they praise him.
GreekΚαὶ ζήσεται, καὶ δοθήσεται αὐτῷ ἐκ τοῦ χρυσίου τῆς Ἀραβίας, καὶ προσεύξονται περὶ αὐτοῦ διαπαντός· ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν εὐλογήσουσιν αὐτόν.

ThomsonBecause I am unpractised in studies I will go in the strength of the Lord; I will mention the saving mercy of Thee, O Lord, alone.
BrentonThere shall be an establishment on the earth on the tops of the mountains: the fruit thereof shall be exalted above Libanus, and they of the city shall flourish as grass of the earth.

ThomsonThou, O God, hast taught me from my youth: and thus far I can declare Thy wonders—
BrentonLet his name be blessed for ever: his name shall endure longer than the sun: and all the tribes of the earth shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

ThomsonThy power and Thy righteousness, O God Most High—the great things which Thou hast done. Who is like Thee, O God?
BrentonAnd blessed is his glorious name for ever, even for ever and ever: and all the earth shall be filled with his glory. So be it, so be it.

ThomsonO what afflictions many and sore hast Thou shewn me! But Thou hast returned and quickened me; and brought me up again from the depths of the earth.
