ThomsonO LORD of hosts, how lovely are Thine abodes! my soul longeth, it panteth for the courts of the Lord.
BrentonFor the end, a Psalm for the sons of Core.
GreekΕἰς τὸ τέλος, τοῖς υἱοῖς Κορὲ ψαλμός.

ThomsonMy heart and my flesh exulted for the living God.
BrentonO Lord, thou hast taken pleasure in thy land: thou hast turned back the captivity of Jacob.
GreekΕὐδόκησας Κύριε τὴν γῆν σου, ἀπέστρεψας τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν Ἰακώβ.

ThomsonFor a sparrow hath found for itself a house: and a ring-dove a nest for itself, where to place its young—[Even I, among] these altars of Thine, O Lord of hosts. O my king and my God,
BrentonThou hast forgiven thy people their transgressions; thou hast covered all their sins. Pause.
GreekἈφῆκας τὰς ἀνομίας τῷ λαῷ σου, ἐκάλυψας πάσας τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν· διάψαλμα.

Thomsonhappy they who dwell in Thy house; they shall forever praise Thee.
BrentonThou hast caused all thy wrath to cease: thou hast turned from thy fierce anger.
GreekΚατέπαυσας πᾶσαν τὴν ὀργήν σου, ἀπέστρεψας ἀπὸ ὀργῆς θυμοῦ σου.

ThomsonHappy the man, whose support is from Thee, O Lord!
BrentonTurn us, O God of our salvation, and turn thine anger away from us.
GreekἘπίστρεψον ἡμᾶς ὁ Θεὸς τῶν σωτηρίων ἡμῶν, καὶ ἀπόστρεψον τὸν θυμόν σου ἀφʼ ἡμῶν.

Thomsonhe hath laid up in his heart steps for this mournful vale, to the place on which he hath fixed; for the lawgiver will indeed give blessings.
BrentonWouldest thou be angry with us for ever? or wilt thou continue thy wrath from generation to generation?
GreekΜὴ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ὀργισθῇς ἡμῖν; ἢ διατενεῖς τὴν ὀργήν σου ἀπὸ γενεᾶς εἰς γενεάν;

ThomsonThey shall go on from strength to strength: the God of Gods will be seen in Sion.
BrentonO God, thou wilt turn and quicken us; and thy people shall rejoice in thee.
GreekὉ Θεὸς, σὺ ἐπιστρέψας ζωώσεις ἡμᾶς, καὶ ὁ λαός σου εὐφρανθήσεται ἐπὶ σοί.

ThomsonO Lord, the God of hosts, hear my prayer; hearken to it, O God of Jacob.
BrentonShew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.
GreekΔεῖξον ἡμῖν Κύριε τὸ ἔλεός σου, καὶ τὸ σωτήριόν σου δῴης ἡμῖν.

ThomsonO God, our shield behold: look down on the face of Thine anointed one.
BrentonI will hear what the Lord God will say concerning me: for he shall speak peace to his people, and to his saints, and to those that turn their heart toward him.
GreekἈκούσομαι τί λαλήσει ἐν ἐμοὶ Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς, ὅτι λαλήσει εἰρήνην ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ὁσίους αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐπιστρέφοντας πρὸς αὐτὸν καρδίαν.

ThomsonBecause one day in Thy courts is better than a thousand; I had rather be in an abject state in the house of God, than dwell in the tents of sinners.
BrentonMoreover his salvation is near them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
GreekΠλὴν ἐγγὺς τῶν φοβουμένων αὐτὸν τὸ σωτήριον αὐτοῦ, τοῦ κατασκηνῶσαι δόξαν ἐν τῇ γῇ ἡμῶν.

ThomsonBecause the Lord loveth mercy and truth; God will give grace and glory: the Lord will not withhold good things from them who walk in innocence.
BrentonMercy and truth are met together: righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
GreekἜλεος καὶ ἀλήθεια συνήντησαν, δικαιοσύνη καὶ εἰρήνη κατεφίλησαν.

ThomsonO Lord of hosts! happy is the man whose trust is in Thee.
BrentonTruth has sprung out of the earth; and righteousness has looked down from heaven.
GreekἈλήθεια ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἀνέτειλε, καὶ δικαιοσύνη ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ διέκυψε.

BrentonFor the Lord will give goodness; and our land shall yield her fruit.
GreekΚαὶ γὰρ ὁ Κύριος δώσει χρηστότητα, καὶ ἡ γῆ ἡμῶν δώσει τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς.

BrentonRighteousness shall go before him; and shall set his steps in the way.
GreekΔικαιοσύνη ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ προπορεύσεται, καὶ θήσει εἰς ὁδὸν τὰ διαβήματα αὐτοῦ.
