ThomsonO LORD, Thou hast favoured this land of Thine: Thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
BrentonA Prayer of David. O Lord, incline thine ear, and hearken to me; for I am poor and needy.
GreekΠροσευχὴ τῷ Δαυίδ. Κλίνον Κύριε τὸ οὖς σου, καὶ εἰσάκουσόν μου, ὅτι πτωχὸς καὶ πένης εἰμὶ ἐγώ.

ThomsonThou hast forgiven Thy people their iniquities: Thou hast covered all their sins.
BrentonPreserve my soul, for I am holy; save thy servant, O God, who hopes in thee.
GreekΦύλαξον τὴν ψυχήν μου, ὅτι ὅσιός εἰμι· σῶσον τὸν δοῦλόν σου ὁ Θεὸς, τὸν ἐλπίζοντα ἐπὶ σέ.

ThomsonThou hast caused all Thine anger to cease: Thou hast turned away from Thy fierce wrath.
BrentonPity me, O Lord: for to thee will I cry all the day.

ThomsonTurn us, O God of our salvation, and turn away Thy wrath from us.
BrentonRejoice the soul of thy servant: for to thee, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul.
GreekΕὔφρανον τὴν ψυχὴν τοῦ δούλου σου, ὅτι πρὸς σὲ Κύριε ᾖρα τὴν ψυχήν μου.

ThomsonBe not angry with us forever. Wilt Thou extend Thy wrath to all generations?
BrentonFor thou, O Lord, art kind, and gentle; and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon thee.
GreekὍτι σὺ Κύριε χρηστὸς καὶ ἐπιεικὴς, καὶ πολυέλεος πᾶσι τοῖς ἐπικαλουμένοις σε.

ThomsonO God, Thou wilt turn and quicken us, that Thy people may rejoice for Thee.
BrentonGive ear to my prayer, O Lord; and attend to the voice of my supplication.
GreekἘνώτισαι Κύριε τὴν προσευχήν μου, καὶ πρόσχες τῇ φωνῇ τῆς δεήσεώς μου.

ThomsonShew us, O Lord, Thy loving kindness: And shouldst Thou grant us Thy salvation, I will hear what the Lord God will say by me: for He will speak peace to His people—to His saints: even to them who turn their hearts to Him;
BrentonIn the day of my trouble I cried to thee: for thou didst hear me.
GreekἘν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεώς μου ἐκέκραξα πρὸς σὲ, ὅτι εἰσήκουσάς μου.

BrentonThere is none like to thee, O Lord, among the gods; and there are no works like to thy works.
GreekΟὐκ ἔστιν ὅμοιός σοι ἐν θεοῖς Κύριε, καὶ οὐκ ἔστι κατὰ τὰ ἔργα σου.

Thomsonmoreover His salvation will be near them who fear Him; that glory may dwell in our land.
BrentonAll nations whom thou hast made shall come, and shall worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
GreekΠάντα τὰ ἔθνη ὅσα ἐποίησας ἥξουσι, καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν ἐνώπιόν σου Κύριε, καὶ δοξάσουσι τὸ ὄνομά σου,

ThomsonMercy and truth have met each other; righteousness and peace have mutually embraced.
BrentonFor thou art great, and doest wonders: thou art the only and the great God.
Greekὅτι μέγας εἶ σὺ, καὶ ποιῶν θαυμάσια, σὺ εἶ ὁ Θεὸς μόνος ὁ μέγας.

ThomsonTruth hath sprung up out of the earth, and righteousness hath looked down from heaven.
BrentonGuide me, O Lord, in thy way, and I will walk in thy truth: let my heart rejoice, that I may fear thy name.
GreekὉδήγησόν με Κύριε ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ σου, καὶ πορεύσομαι ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ σου· εὐφρανθήτω ἡ καρδία μου, τοῦ φοβεῖσθαι τὸ ὄνομά σου.

ThomsonFor the Lord will exercise benignity, and our land shall yield her increase.
BrentonI will give thee thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart; and I will glorify thy name for ever.
GreekἘξομολογήσομαί σοι Κύριε ὁ Θεός μου ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ μου, καὶ δοξάσω τὸ ὄνομά σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.

ThomsonRighteousness shall go before Him, and He will imprint His footsteps for a path.
BrentonFor thy mercy is great toward me; and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
GreekὍτι τὸ ἔλεός σου μέγα ἐπʼ ἐμὲ, καὶ ἐῤῥύσω τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐξ ᾅδου κατωτάτου.

BrentonO God, transgressors have risen up against me, and an assembly of violent men have sought my life; and have not set thee before them.
GreekὉ Θεὸς, παράνομοι ἐπανέστησαν ἐπʼ ἐμὲ, καὶ συναγωγὴ κραταιῶν ἐζήτησαν τὴν ψυχήν μου, καὶ οὐ προέθεντό σε ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν.

BrentonBut thou, O Lord God, art compassionate and merciful, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy and true.

BrentonLook thou upon me, and have mercy upon me: give thy strength to thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.

BrentonEstablish with me a token for good; and let them that hate me see it and be ashamed; because thou, O Lord, hast helped me, and comforted me.
