ThomsonAGAIN a word of the Lord came to me, saying,

ThomsonSon of man, set thy face against Gog, and the land of Magog, the Prince of Ros, Mesoch and Thobel and prophesy against him and say to him,

ThomsonThus saith the Lord God: Behold I am against thee, Prince of Ros, Mesoch and Thobel.

ThomsonAnd I will gather thee and all thine army, horses and horsemen all clad with coats of mail—a great assembly with shields and helmets and swords,
Brentonand I will gather thee, and all thine host, horses and horsemen, all wearing breast-plates, with a great multitude, shields and helmets and swords:

ThomsonGomer and all those around him, the house of Thogarma, from the extreme north, with all around him and many nations with thee.
BrentonGomer, and all belonging to him; the house of Thorgama, from the end of the north, and all belonging to him; and many nations with thee.

ThomsonBe prepared and make thyself ready, thou and thy multitude assembled with thee; for thou shalt be to Me for a vanguard.
BrentonBe thou prepared, prepare thyself, thou, and all thy multitude that is assembled with thee, and thou shalt be to me for a guard.
GreekἙτοιμάσθητι, ἑτοίμασον σεαυτὸν σὺ, καὶ πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγή σου ἡ συνηγμένη μετὰ σοῦ, καὶ ἔσῃ μοι εἰς προφυλακήν.

ThomsonAfter many days he will be in a state of preparation, and in the last of years he will begin his march, and come into the land which is withdrawn from the sword—the land of them who have been collected from many nations, to the land of Israel, which had been made an entire desert. When he from nations hath begun his march, they will be all dwelling in peace.
BrentonHe shall be prepared after many days, and he shall come at the end of years, and shall come to a land that is brought back from the sword, when the people are gathered from many nations against the land of Israel, which was entirely desolate: and he is come forth out of the nations, and they shall all dwell securely.
GreekἈφʼ ἡμερῶν πλειόνων ἑτοιμασθήσεται, καὶ ἐπʼ ἐσχάτου ἐτῶν ἐλεύσεται, καὶ ἥξει εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν ἀπεστραμμένην ἀπὸ μαχαίρας, συνηγμένων ἀπὸ ἐθνῶν πολλῶν ἐπὶ γῆν Ἰσραὴλ, ἣ ἐγενήθη ἔρημος διʼ ὅλου· καὶ οὗτος ἐξ ἐθνῶν ἐξελήλυθε, καὶ κατοικήσουσιν ἐπʼ εἰρήνης ἅπαντες.

ThomsonThen thou wilt come up like rain, and advance like a cloud to cover the land. When thou shalt be with all thy bands around thee, and many nations with thee
BrentonAnd thou shalt go up as rain, and shalt arrive as a cloud to cover the land, and there shall be thou, and all that are about thee, and many nations with thee.
GreekΚαὶ ἀναβήσῃ ὡς ὑετὸς, καὶ ἥξεις ὡς νεφέλη κατακαλύψαι γῆν, καὶ ἔσῃ σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ περὶ σὲ, καὶ ἔθνη πολλὰ μετὰ σοῦ.

Thomson(Thus saith the Lord God), In that day things will come into thy heart, and thou wilt form wicked devices
BrentonThus saith the Lord God; It shall also come to pass in that day, that thoughts shall come up into thine heart, and thou shalt devise evil devices.

Thomsonand say, I will go up against an abject land; I shall come upon them who are living at ease, and dwelling in peaceful security—all inhabiting a land in which there is not a walled town, and who have neither bars nor gates;
BrentonAnd thou shalt say, I will go up to the rejected land; I will come upon them that are at ease in tranquillity, and dwelling in peace, all inhabiting a land in which there is no wall, nor bars, nor have they doors;
Greekκαὶ ἐρεῖς, ἀναβήσομαι ἐπὶ γῆν ἀπεῤῥιμμένην, ἥξω ἐπὶ ἡσυχάζοντας ἐν τῇ ἡσυχίᾳ, καὶ οἰκοῦντας ἐπʼ εἰρήνης, πάντας κατοικοῦντας γῆν, ἐν ᾗ οὐχ ὑπάρχει τεῖχος, οὐδὲ μοχλοὶ, καὶ θύραι οὐκ εἰσὶν αὐτοῖς,

Thomsonto take prey and to gather their spoils, by turning my hand against this wasted country which is re-settled, and against a nation gathered together from many nations who have gotten wealth and inhabit the navel of the earth.
Brentonto seize plunder, and to take their spoil; to turn my hands against the desolate land that is now inhabited, and against a nation that is gathered from many nations, that have acquired property, dwelling in the midst of the land.
Greekπρονομεῦσαι προνομὴν, καὶ σκῦλα σκυλεῦσαι αὐτῶν, τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι χεῖράς μου εἰς τὴν ἠρημωμένην ἣ κατῳκίσθη, καὶ ἐπʼ ἔθνος συνηγμένον ἀπὸ ἐθνῶν πολλῶν, πεποιηκότας κτήσεις, κατοικοῦντας ἐπὶ τὸν ὀμφαλὸν τῆς γῆς.

ThomsonSaba and Daidan and the merchants of Carthage, and all their colonies, will say to thee, Thou art coming for prey, just to collect plunder and spoil: thou hast assembled thy troops to take silver and gold, to carry off cattle, to gather the spoil.
BrentonSabba, and Dædan, and Carthaginian merchants, and all their villages shall say to thee, Thou art come for plunder to take a prey, and to get spoils: thou hast gathered thy multitude to take silver and gold, to carry off property, to take spoils.
GreekΣαββὰ, καὶ Δαιδὰν, καὶ ἔμποροι Καρχηδόνιοι, καὶ πᾶσαι αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν ἐροῦσί σοι, εἰς προνομὴν τοῦ προνομεῦσαι σὺ ἔρχῃ, καὶ σκυλεῦσαι σκῦλα, συνήγαγες συναγωγήν σου λαβεῖν ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον, ἀπενέγκασθαι κτῆσιν, τοῦ σκυλεῦσαι σκῦλα.

ThomsonTherefore prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog, Thus saith the Lord: At the time when My people Israel shall be dwelling in peace, wilt thou not be roused?
BrentonTherefore prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog, Thus saith the Lord; Wilt thou not arise in that day, when my people Israel are dwelling securely,

ThomsonYes; thou wilt come from thy place, from the extremity of the north: thou and many nations with thee, all mounted on horses,—a great assembly and a mighty army
Brentonand come out of thy place from the farthest north, and many nations with thee? all of them mounted on horses, a great gathering, and a large force?
Greekκαὶ ἥξεις ἐκ τοῦ τόπου σου ἀπʼ ἐσχάτου Βοῤῥᾶ, καὶ ἔθνη πολλὰ μετὰ σοῦ; ἀναβάται ἵππων πάντες, συναγωγὴ μεγάλη καὶ δύναμις πολλή.

Thomsonwill indeed come up against My people Israel as a cloud to cover the land. In the latter days I will bring thee up against My land, that all the nations may know Me when I am hallowed by thee in their sight.
BrentonAnd thou shalt come up upon my people Israel as a cloud to cover the land; it shall come to pass in the last days, that I will bring thee up upon my land, that all the nations may know me, when I am sanctified in thee before them.
GreekΚαὶ ἀναβήσῃ ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ἰσραὴλ ὡς νεφέλη καλύψαι γῆν· ἐπʼ ἐσχάτων τῶν ἡμερῶν ἔσται, καὶ ἀνάξω σε ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν μου, ἵνα γνῶσι πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐμὲ, ἐν τῷ ἁγιασθῆναί με ἐν σοὶ ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν.

ThomsonThus saith the Lord God to Gog, Thou art he of whom I have spoken in former times by the ministry of My servants, the prophets of Israel, that in these days and years I would bring thee up against them.
BrentonThus saith the Lord God, to Gog; Thou art he concerning whom I spoke in former times, by the hand of my servants the prophets of Israel, in those days and years, that I would bring thee up against them.

ThomsonBut it shall come to pass on that day, on the day when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, My wrath shall come up, saith the Lord God, and My zeal.

GreekΚαὶ ἔσται ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἂν ἔλθῃ Γὼγ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν Ἰσραὴλ, λέγει Κύριος Κύριος, ἀναβήσεται ὁ θυμός μου,

ThomsonIn the fire of Mine indignation, I have spoken. There shall indeed be on that day a great shock in the land of Israel.
Brentonthat my wrath and my jealousy shall arise, I have spoken in the fire of mine anger, verily in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;
Greekκαὶ ὁ ζῆλός μου· ἐν πυρὶ τῆς ὀργῆς μου ἐλάλησα, εἰ μὴν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἔσται σεισμὸς μέγας ἐπὶ γῆς Ἰσραήλ·

ThomsonAt the presence of the Lord, the fishes of the sea shall be shaken, and the birds of the air, and the beasts of the field, and all the reptiles which creep on the earth, and all the men on the face of the earth. And the mountains shall be rent to pieces, and the valleys shall sink down, and every wall shall fall to the ground.
Brentonand the fish of the sea shall quake at the presence of the Lord, and the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the field, and all the reptiles that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are on the face of the earth; and the mountains shall be rent, and the valleys shall fall, and every wall on the land shall fall.
GreekΚαὶ σεισθήσονται ἀπὸ προσώπου Κυρίου οἱ ἰχθύες τῆς θαλάσσης, καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ τὰ θηρία τοῦ πεδίου, καὶ πάντα τὰ ἑρπετὰ τὰ ἕρποντα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄνθρωποι οἱ ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς, καὶ ῥαγήσεται τὰ ὄρη, καὶ πεσοῦνται αἱ φάραγγες, καὶ πᾶν τεῖχος ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν πεσεῖται.

ThomsonAnd for all this indeed I will call up terror, saith the Lord: every man’s sword shall be against his brother. And I will execute judgment on him,
BrentonAnd I will summon against it even every fear, saith the Lord: the sword of every man shall be against his brother.
GreekΚαὶ καλέσω ἐπʼ αὐτὸ καὶ πᾶν φόβον, λέγει Κύριος· μάχαιρα ἀνθρώπου ἐπὶ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ ἔσται.

Thomsonwith pestilence and blood and with tempests of rain and hailstones; and I will rain down fire and brimstone on him, and on all with him, even on the many nations with him.
BrentonAnd I will judge him with pestilence, and blood, and sweeping rain, and hailstones; and I will rain upon him fire and brimstone, and upon all that are with him, and upon many nations with him.
GreekΚαὶ κρινῶ αὐτὸν θανάτῳ, καὶ αἵματι, καὶ ὑετῷ κατακλύζοντι, καὶ λίθοις χαλάζης, καὶ πῦρ καὶ θεῖον βρέξω ἐπʼ αὐτὸν, καὶ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς μετʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπʼ ἔθνη πολλὰ μετʼ αὐτοῦ.

ThomsonAnd I shall be magnified and hallowed and glorified, and made known in the sight of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord.
BrentonAnd I will be magnified, and sanctified, and glorified; and I will be known in the presence of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ μεγαλυνθήσομαι, καὶ ἁγιασθήσομαι, καὶ ἐνδοξασθήσομαι, καὶ γνωσθήσομαι ἐναντίον ἐθνῶν πολλῶν, καὶ γνώσονται ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος.
