ThomsonTHOU, therefore, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I am against thee, Gog, the Prince of Ros, Mesoch and Thobel,

Thomsonand I will assemble thee and lead thee and cause thee to come from the farthest north, and bring thee up to the mountains of Israel;
Brentonand I will assemble thee, and guide thee, and raise thee up on the extremity of the north, and I will bring thee up upon the mountains of Israel.

Thomsonand I will destroy thy bow from thy left hand and thine arrows from thy right, and overthrow thee on the mountains of Israel.
BrentonAnd I will destroy thy bow out of thy left hand, and thine arrows out of thy right hand, and I will cast thee down on the mountains of Israel;

ThomsonAnd thou and all who are around thee shall fall; and the nations with thee shall be given to multitudes of birds, to all the feathered tribe; and to all the wild beasts of the field I have given thee to be devoured.
Brentonand thou and all that belong to thee shall fall, and the nations that are with thee shall be given to multitudes of birds, even to every fowl, and I have given thee to all the wild beasts of the field to be devoured.

ThomsonOn the open field thou shalt fall, for I have spoken, saith the Lord.

ThomsonI will indeed send a fire against Gog, and the isles shall be peaceably inhabited, and they shall know that I am the Lord.
BrentonAnd I will send a fire upon Gog, and the islands shall be securely inhabited: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ ἀποστελῶ πῦρ ἐπὶ Γὼγ, καὶ κατοικηθήσονται αἱ νῆσοι ἐπʼ εἰρήνης, καὶ γνώσονται ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος.

ThomsonAnd My holy name shall be known in the midst of My people Israel; and My name which is holy shall no more be profaned; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

ThomsonBehold it is coming and thou shalt know that it will be, saith the Lord God. This is the day of which I have spoken,

Thomsonwhen they who inhabit the cities of Israel shall come forth, and make fires with the arms—with the shields and spears, and with bows and arrows, and hand-staves and poles—even with these they shall make fires seven years:

GreekΚαὶ ἐξελεύσονται οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὰς πόλεις Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ καύσουσιν ἐν τοῖς ὅπλοις, πέλταις καὶ κοντοῖς, καὶ τόξοις καὶ τοξεύμασι, καὶ ῥάβδοις χειρῶν, καὶ λόγχαις, καὶ καύσουσιν ἐν αὐτοῖς πῦρ ἑπτὰ ἔτη·

Thomsonso that they shall not have occasion to take wood from the plains, nor to cut timber from the forests; but shall burn the arms only. And they shall plunder their plunderers; and spoil those who spoiled them, saith the Lord.
Brentonand they shall not take any wood out of the field, neither shall they cut any out of the forests, but they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall plunder those that plundered them, and spoil those that spoiled them, saith the Lord.

ThomsonAnd on that day I will give Gog a noted place—a burying place in Israel, the graveyard of strangers by the seashore. And the slope of the valley shall be enclosed with a wall, and there Gog and all his multitude shall be buried; and it shall then be called the graveyard of Gog.
BrentonAnd it shall come to pass that in that day I will give to Gog a place of renown, a tomb in Israel, the burial-place of them that approach the sea: and they shall build round about the outlet of the valley, and there they shall bury Gog and all his multitude: and the place shall then be called the burial-place of Gog.

ThomsonFor the house of Israel will bury them, that the land may be cleansed.
BrentonAnd the house of Israel shall bury them, that the land may be cleansed in the space of seven months.
GreekΚαὶ κατορύξουσιν αὐτοὺς οἶκος Ἰσραὴλ, ἵνα καθαρισθῇ ἡ γῆ ἐν ἑπταμήνῳ.

ThomsonDuring seven months the people of the land will be employed in burying them; and it shall be to them a memorable epoch, [to be called] The day when He was glorified, saith the Lord.
BrentonYea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a place of renown in the day wherein it was glorified, saith the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ κατορύξουσιν αὐτοὺς πᾶς ὁ λαὸς τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἔσται αὐτοῖς ὀνομαστὸν, ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἐδοξάσθη, λέγει Κύριος.

ThomsonThen they will send men everywhere to traverse the land, and bury them who are left on the face of the ground, in order to purify it after the seven months. And they will make diligent search.
BrentonAnd they shall appoint men continually to go over the land, to bury them that have been left on the face of the earth, to cleanse it after the space of seven months, and they shall seek them out.
GreekΚαὶ ἄνδρας διαπαντὸς διαστελοῦσιν ἐπιπορευομένους τὴν γῆν, θάψαι τοὺς καταλελειμμένους ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς, καθαρίσαι αὐτὴν μετὰ τὴν ἐπτάμηνον, καὶ ἐκζητήσουσι.

ThomsonAnd every one who traverseth the land, upon seeing a human bone, shall set up a mark near it; till the buriers bury it at Gai, the graveyard of Gog:
BrentonAnd every one that goes through the land, and sees a man's bone, shall set up a mark by it, until the buriers shall have buried it in the valley, the burial-place of Gog.
GreekΚαὶ πᾶς ὁ διαπορευόμενος τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἰδὼν ὀστοῦν ἀνθρώπου, οἰκοδομήσει παρʼ αὐτῷ σημεῖον, ἕως ὅτου θάψωσιν αὐτὸ οἱ θάπτοντες εἰς γαὶ τὸ πολυάνδριον τοῦ Γώγ.

Thomson(for the name of that city shall be called Grave-Yard). Thus shall the land be cleansed.
BrentonFor the name of the city shall be Burial-place: so shall the land be cleansed.

ThomsonThou, therefore, son of man, say, Thus saith the Lord: Say to every winged bird, and to all the wild beasts of the field, Assemble and come; assemble from all around to my sacrifice, to the great sacrifice which I have made for you on the mountains of Israel; and you shall eat flesh and drink blood.
BrentonAnd thou, son of man, say, Thus saith the Lord; Say to every winged bird, and to all the wild beasts of the field, Gather yourselves, and come; gather yourselves from all places round about to my sacrifice, which I have made for you, even a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel, and ye shall eat flesh, and drink blood.

ThomsonYou shall eat the flesh of giants and drink the blood of the princes of the earth. Rams and young bulls, and he-goats, and all the bulls are well fatted.
BrentonYe shall eat the flesh of mighty men, and ye shall drink the blood of the princes of the earth, rams, and calves and goats, and they are all fatted calves.
GreekΚρέα γιγάντων φάγεσθε, καὶ αἷμα ἀρχόντων τῆς γῆς πίεσθε· κριοὺς καὶ μόσχους καὶ τράγους, καὶ οἱ μόσχοι ἐστεατωμένοι πάντες.

ThomsonAnd you shall eat fat till you are glutted, and drink blood to satiety at My sacrifice which I have prepared for you.
BrentonAnd ye shall eat fat till ye are full, and shall drink wine till ye are drunken, of my sacrifice which I have prepared for you.
GreekΚαὶ φάγεσθε στέαρ εἰς πλησμονὴν, καὶ πίεσθε αἷμα εἰς μέθην ἀπὸ τῆς θυσίας μου, ἧς ἔθυσα ὑμῖν.

ThomsonAnd you shall be filled at My table with horses and horsemen, and with giants and every great warrior, saith the Lord.
BrentonAnd ye shall be filled at my table, eating horse, and rider, and mighty man, and every warrior, saith the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ ἐμπλησθήσεσθε ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης μου, ἵππον καὶ ἀναβάτην καὶ γίγαντα καὶ πάντα ἄνδρα πολεμιστὴν, λέγει Κύριος.

ThomsonI will indeed display My glory among you, and all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have brought upon them.
BrentonAnd I will set my glory among you, and all the nations shall see my judgment which I have wrought, and my hand which I have brought upon them.
GreekΚαὶ δώσω τὴν δόξαν μου ἐν ὑμῖν, καὶ ὄψονται πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τὴν κρίσιν μου ἣν ἐποίησα, καὶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἣν ἐπήγαγον ἐπʼ αὐτούς.

ThomsonAnd the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from this particular time and thenceforward.
BrentonAnd the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God, from this day and onwards.

ThomsonAnd all the nations shall know, that the house of Israel were carried into captivity for their sins. Because they broke covenant with Me therefore I turned away My face from them, and delivered them into the hands of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.
BrentonAnd all the nations shall know that the house of Israel were led captive because of their sins, because they rebelled against me, and I turned away my face from them, and delivered them into the hands of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.

ThomsonAccording to their pollutions and according to their iniquities I dealt with them, and turned away My face from them.
BrentonAccording to their uncleannesses and according to their transgressions did I deal with them, and I turned away my face from them.
GreekΚατὰ τὰς ἀκαθαρσίας αὐτῶν, καὶ κατὰ τὰ ἀνομήματα αὐτῶν ἐποίησα αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἀπέστρεψα τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπʼ αὐτῶν.

ThomsonTherefore thus saith the Lord: I will now bring back the captivity of Jacob, and have compassion on the house of Israel. And I will shew a zeal for My holy name,
BrentonTherefore thus saith the Lord God, Now will I turn back captivity in Jacob, and will have mercy on the house of Israel, and will be jealous for the sake of my holy name.

Thomsonwhen they shall have suffered disgrace for the rebellion of which they were guilty when they dwelt peaceably in their own land. And there shall be none to make them afraid,
BrentonAnd they shall bear their reproach, and the iniquity which they committed when they dwelt upon their land in peace. Yet there shall be none to terrify them
GreekΚαὶ λήψονται τὴν ἀτιμίαν αὐτῶν, καὶ τὴν ἀδικίαν ἣν ἠδίκησαν ἐν τῷ κατοικισθῆναι αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν ἐπʼ εἰρήνης· καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἐκφοβῶν,

Thomsonwhen I have brought them back from among the nations and gathered them from the countries of the nations. So I shall be hallowed by them in the sight of the nations
Brentonwhen I have brought them back from the nations, and gathered them out of the countries of the nations: and I will be sanctified among them in the presence of the nations.
Greekἐν τῷ ἀποστρέψαι με αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῶν ἐθνῶν, καὶ συναγαγεῖν με αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῶν χωρῶν τῶν ἐθνῶν· καὶ ἁγιασθήσομαι ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐνώπιον τῶν ἐθνῶν.

Thomsonand they shall know that I the Lord am their God, when I manifest Myself to them among the nations.
BrentonAnd they shall know that I am the Lord their God, when I have been manifested to them among the nations.
GreekΚαὶ γνώσονται ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς αὐτῶν, ἐν τῷ ἐπιφανῆναί με αὐτοῖς ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι.

ThomsonAnd I will no more turn away My face from them, for as much as I have poured out My wrath on the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.
