ThomsonAGAIN the Lord spoke to Moses saying,

ThomsonSpeak to the children of Israel and say, When any person sinneth unwittingly before the Lord, and doth any of those things, which by any of the commandments of the Lord he ought not to do—
BrentonSpeak to the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin unwillingly before the Lord, in any of the commandments of the Lord concerning things which he ought not to do, and shall do some of them;
GreekΛάλησον πρὸς τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ, λέγων, ψυχὴ ἐὰν ἁμάρτῃ ἔναντι Κυρίου ἀκουσίως ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν προσταγμάτων Κυρίου, ὧν οὐ δεῖ ποιεῖν, καὶ ποιήσῃ ἕν τι ἀπʼ αὐτῶν·

Thomsonif for instance the chief priest who hath been anointed, sin; on the account of his causing the people to sin, he shall, for the sin which he hath committed, bring a young bull without blemish from the herd before the Lord for his sin offering;
Brentonif the anointed priest sin so as to cause the people to sin, then shall he bring for his sin, which he has sinned, an unblemished calf of the herd to the Lord for his sin.
GreekἘὰν μὲν ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς ὁ κεχρισμένος ἁμάρτῃ τοῦ τὸν λαὸν ἁμαρτεῖν, καὶ προσάξει περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας αὐτοῦ, ἧς ἥμαρτε, μόσχον ἐκ βοῶν ἄμωμον τῷ Κυρίῳ περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας.

Thomsonand having brought the young bull to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony before the Lord he shall lay his hand on the head of the young bull before the Lord and slay the bull in the presence of the Lord;
BrentonAnd he shall bring the calf to the door of the tabernacle of witness before the Lord, and he shall put his hand on the head of the calf before the Lord, and shall slay the calf in the presence of the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ προσάξει τὸν μόσχον παρὰ τὴν θύραν τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου ἔναντι Κυρίου, καὶ ἐπιθήσει τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν τοῦ μόσχου ἔναντι Κυρίου, καὶ σφάξει τὸν μόσχον ἐνώπιον Κυρίου.

ThomsonAnd the priest who is anointed, he whose hands have been consecrated, having taken some of the blood of the bull shall carry it into the tabernacle of the testimony.
BrentonAnd the anointed priest who has been consecrated having received of the blood of the calf, shall then bring it into the tabernacle of witness.
GreekΚαὶ λαβὼν ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ χριστὸς ὁ τετελειωμένος τὰς χεῖρας ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ μόσχου, καὶ εἰσοίσει αὐτὸ εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου.

ThomsonAnd this priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before the Lord, before the holy veil;
BrentonAnd the priest shall dip his finger into the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before the Lord, over against the holy veil.
GreekΚαὶ βάψει ὁ ἱερεὺς τὸν δάκτυλον εἰς τὸ αἷμα, καὶ προσρανεῖ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος ἑπτάκις ἔναντι Κυρίου, κατὰ τὸ καταπέτασμα τὸ ἅγιον.

Thomsonand he shall put some of the blood of the bull on the horns of the altar of compound incense, which is before the Lord in the tabernacle of the testimony. Now all the blood of the bull he is to pour out at the base of the altar of whole burnt offerings which is at the doors of the tabernacle of the testimony.
BrentonAnd the priest shall put of the blood of the calf on the horns of the altar of the compound incense which is before the Lord, which is in the tabernacle of witness; and all the blood of the calf shall he pour out by the foot of the altar of whole-burnt-offerings, which is by the doors of the tabernacle of witness.
GreekΚαὶ ἐπιθήσει ὁ ἱερεὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ μόσχου ἐπὶ τὰ κέρατα τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τοῦ θυμιάματος τῆς συνθέσεως τοῦ ἐναντίον Κυρίου, ὅ ἐστιν ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου· καὶ πᾶν τὸ αἷμα τοῦ μόσχου ἐκχεεῖ παρὰ τὴν βάσιν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων, ὅ ἐστι παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.

ThomsonAnd with regard to all the suet of the bull for the sin offering, he shall strip off the caul, which covereth the entrails and all the fat on the entrails
BrentonAnd all the fat of the calf of the sin-offering shall he take off from it; the fat that covers the inwards, and all the fat that is on the inwards,
GreekΚαὶ πὰν τὸ στέαρ τοῦ μόσχου τοῦ τῆς ἁμαρτίας περιελεῖ ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ, τὸ στέαρ τὸ κατακαλύπτον τὰ ἐνδόσθια, καὶ πᾶν τὸ στέαρ τὸ ἐπὶ τῶν ἐνδοσθίων,

Thomsonand the two kidneys with the suet on them—that which is on the loins and the lobe which is on the liver he shall strip off with the two kidneys in the same manner
Brentonand the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, that which is on the thighs, and the caul that is on the liver with the kidneys, them shall he take away,

Thomsonas it is to be taken from the young bull of the sacrifice of thanksgiving; and the priest shall offer up these upon the altar of homage offerings;
Brentonas he takes it away from the calf of the sacrifice of peace-offering, so shall the priest offer it on the altar of burnt-offering.
Greekὃν τρόπον ἀφαιρεῖται αὐτὸ ἀπὸ τοῦ μόσχου τοῦ τῆς θυσίας τοῦ σωτηρίου, καὶ ἀνοίσει ὁ ἱερεὺς ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τῆς καρπώσεως.

Thomsonbut the skin of the bull and all his flesh with the head and the limbs and the belly and the dung
BrentonAnd they shall take the skin of the calf, and all his flesh with the head and the extremities and the belly and the dung,
GreekΚαὶ τὸ δέρμα τοῦ μόσχου, καὶ πᾶσαν αὐτοῦ τὴν σάρκα σὺν τῇ κεφαλῇ καὶ τοῖς ἀκρωτηρίοις καὶ τῇ κοιλίᾳ καὶ τῇ κόπρῳ·

Thomsoneven the whole bull they shall carry forth without the camp to a clean place where the ashes are emptied out, and burn him on wood with fire. On the out pourings of the ashes he shall be burned.
Brentonand they shall carry out the whole calf out of the camp into a clean place, where they pour out the ashes, and they shall consume it there on wood with fire: it shall be burnt on the ashes poured out.
Greekκαὶ ἐξοίσουσιν ὅλον τὸν μόσχον ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς εἰς τόπον καθαρὸν, οὗ ἐκχεοῦσι τὴν σποδιὰν, καὶ κατακαύσουσιν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ ξύλων ἐν πυρί· ἐπὶ τῆς ἐκχύσεως τῆς σποδιᾶς καυθήσεται.

ThomsonAnd if the whole congregation of Israel be unwittingly ignorant and a commandment hath escaped the notice of the whole congregation, and they shall do an act, which by any of the commandments of the Lord ought not to be done and shall transgress:
BrentonAnd if the whole congregation of Israel trespass ignorantly, and a thing should escape the notice of the congregation, and they should do one thing forbidden of any of the commands of the Lord, which ought not to be done, and should transgress:
GreekἘὰν δὲ πᾶσα συναγωγὴ Ἰσραὴλ ἀγνοήσῃ ἀκουσίως, καὶ λάθῃ ῥῆμα ἐξ ὀφθαλμῶν τῆς συναγωγῆς, καὶ ποιήσωσι μίαν ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν ἐντολῶν Κυρίου, ἣ οὐ ποιηθήσεται, καὶ πλήμμελήσωσι,

Thomsonwhen the sin which they have thereby committed is made known to them, the congregation shall bring a young bull from the herd without blemish for their sin offering; and when they have brought him to the doors of the tabernacle of the testimony,
Brentonand the sin wherein they have sinned should become known to them, then shall the congregation bring an unblemished calf of the herd for a sin-offering, and they shall bring it to the doors of the tabernacle of witness.

Thomsonthe elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bull before the Lord and slay the bull before the Lord;
BrentonAnd the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the calf before the Lord, and they shall slay the calf before the Lord.
GreekΚαὶ ἐπιθήσουσιν οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τῆς συναγωγῆς τὰς χείρας αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν τοῦ μόσχου ἔναντι Κυρίου, καὶ σφάξουσιν τὸν μόσχον ἔναντι Κυρίου.

Thomsonand the priest, the anointed one shall carry some of the blood of the bull into the tabernacle of the testimony;
BrentonAnd the anointed priest shall bring in of the blood of the calf into the tabernacle of witness.
GreekΚαὶ εἰσοίσει ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ χριστὸς ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος τοὺ μόσχου εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου.

Thomsonand the priest shall dip his finger into some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it seven times before the Lord in front of the holy veil, and shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of compound incense which is before the Lord in the tabernacle of the testimony.
BrentonAnd the priest shall dip his finger into some of the blood of the calf, and shall sprinkle it seven times before the Lord, in front of the veil of the sanctuary.
GreekΚαὶ βάψει ὁ ἱερεὺς τὸν δάκτυλον ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ μόσχου, καὶ ῥανεῖ ἑπτάκις ἔναντι Κυρίου, κατενώπιον τοῦ καταπετάσματος τοῦ ἁγίου.

ThomsonNow all the blood he is to pour out at the base of the altar of homage offerings which is at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony.
BrentonAnd the priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of the incense of composition, which is before the Lord, which is in the tabernacle of witness; and he shall pour out all the blood at the bottom of the altar of whole-burnt-offerings, which is by the door of the tabernacle of witness.
GreekΚαὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος ἐπιθήσει ὁ ἱερεὺς ἐπὶ τὰ κέρατα τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τῶν θυμιαμάτων τῆς συνθέσεως, ὅ ἐστιν ἐνώπιον Κυρίου, ὅ ἐστιν ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου· καὶ τὸ πᾶν αἷμα ἐκχεεῖ πρὸς τὴν βάσιν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τῶν καρπώσεων, τοῦ πρὸς τῇ θύρᾳ τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.

ThomsonThen he shall take off all the suet of the victim and carry it up upon the altar
BrentonAnd he shall take away all the fat from it, and shall offer it up on the altar.
GreekΚαὶ τὸ πᾶν στέαρ περιελεῖ ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀνοίσει ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον.

Thomsonand shall do with this bull in the same manner as was done with the bull for the sin offering. This being done the priest shall make atonement for them, and the sin shall be forgiven them.
BrentonAnd he shall do to the calf as he did to the calf of the sin-offering, so shall it be done; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and the trespass shall be forgiven them.
GreekΚαὶ ποιήσει τὸν μόσχον, ὃν τρόπον ἐποίησε τὸν μόσχον τὸν τῆς ἁμαρτίας, οὕτω ποιηθήσεται· καὶ ἐξιλάσεται περὶ αὐτῶν ὁ ἱερεὺς, καὶ ἀφεθήσεται αὐτοῖς ἡ ἁμαρτία.

ThomsonBut they must carry forth the whole bull out of the camp and burn him as they did the former bull. It is a sin offering of the congregation.
BrentonAnd they shall carry forth the calf whole without the camp, and they shall burn the calf as they burnt the former calf: it is the sin-offering of the congregation.
GreekΚαὶ ἐξοίσουσι τὸν μόσχον ὅλον ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς, καὶ κατακαύσουσι τὸν μόσχον, ὃν τρόπον κατέκαυσαν τὸν μόσχον τὸν πρότερον· ἁμαρτία συναγωγῆς ἐστιν.

ThomsonAnd if the chief sin or do inadvertently any of those things which by the commands of the Lord his God ought not to be done and commit sin or trespass;
BrentonAnd if a ruler sin, and break one of all the commands of the Lord his God, doing the thing which ought not to be done, unwillingly, and shall sin and trespass,
GreekἘὰν δὲ ὁ ἄρχων ἁμάρτῃ, καὶ ποιήσῃ μίαν ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν ἐντολῶν Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ αὐτοῦ, ἣ οὐ ποιηθήσεται, ἀκουσίως, καὶ ἁμάρτῃ καὶ πλημμελήσῃ,

Thomsonwhen the sin which he hath thereby committed is made known to him he shall bring as his gift a goat from the goats a male without blemish,
Brentonand his trespass wherein he has sinned, be known to him,—then shall he offer for his gift a kid of the goats, a male without blemish.
Greekκαὶ γνωσθῇ αὐτῷ ἡ ἁμαρτία, ἣν ἥμαρτεν ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ προσοίσει τὸ δῶρον αὐτοῦ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν, ἄρσεν ἄμωμον.

Thomsonand he shall lay his hand on the head of the goat, and they shall kill it in the place where they kill the whole burnt offerings before the Lord. It is a sin offering.
BrentonAnd he shall lay his hand on the head of the kid, and they shall kill it in the place where they kill the victims for whole-burnt-offerings before the Lord; it is a sin-offering.
GreekΚαὶ ἐπιθήσει τὴν χεῖρα ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν τοῦ χιμάρου· καὶ σφάξουσιν αὐτὸν ἐν τόπῳ οὗ σφάζουσι τὰ ὁλοκαυτώματα ἐνώπιον Κυρίου· ἁμαρτία ἐστί.

ThomsonAnd the priest with his finger shall put some of the blood of this sin offering on the horns of the altar of whole burnt offerings. Now all the blood thereof he is to pour out at the base of the altar of whole burnt offerings and he shall offer all the suet thereof on the altar as he did the suet of the sacrifice of thanksgiving. So the priest shall make atonement for him because of the sins which he hath committed and it shall be forgiven him.
BrentonAnd the priest shall put some of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger on the horns of the altar of whole-burnt-offering; and he shall pour out all its blood by the bottom of the altar of whole-burnt-offerings.

BrentonAnd he shall offer up all his fat on the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace-offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.

ThomsonAnd if any of the people of the land sin inadvertently by doing any of those things which by the commands of the Lord ought not to be done and shall transgress
BrentonAnd if a soul of the people of the land should sin unwillingly, in doing a thing contrary to any of the commandments of the Lord, which ought not to be done, and shall transgress,
GreekἘὰν δὲ ψυχὴ μία ἁμάρτῃ ἀκουσίως ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ τῆς γῆς, ἐν τῷ ποιῆσαι μίαν ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν ἐντολῶν Κυρίου, ἣ οὐ ποιηθήσεται, καὶ πλημμελήσῃ·

Thomsonwhen the sin which he hath thereby committed is made known to him, he shall bring a goat from the goats—he shall bring a she-goat without blemish for the sin which he hath committed
Brentonand his sin should be known to him, wherein he has sinned, then shall he bring a kid of the goats, a female without blemish shall he bring for his sin, which he has sinned.

Thomsonand shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering; and they shall kill this she-goat for his sin offering in the place where they kill the whole burnt offerings.
BrentonAnd he shall lay his hand on the head of his sin-offering, and they shall slay the kid of the sin-offering in the place where they slay the victims for whole-burnt-offerings.
GreekΚαὶ ἐπιθήσει τὴν χεῖρα ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν τοῦ ἁμαρτήματος αὐτοῦ· καὶ σφάξουσιν τὴν χίμαιραν τὴν τῆς ἁμαρτίας ἐν τῷ τόπῳ, οὗ σφάζουσι τὰ ὁλοκαυτώματα.

ThomsonAnd the priest shall take some of the blood thereof with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of whole burnt offerings. Now all the blood thereof he is to pour out at the base of the altar.
BrentonAnd the priest shall take of its blood with his finger, and shall put it on the horns of the altar of whole-burnt-offerings; and all its blood he shall pour forth by the foot of the altar.
GreekΚαὶ λήψεται ὁ ἱερεὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτῆς τῷ δακτύλῳ, καὶ ἐπιθήσει ἐπὶ τὰ κέρατα τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων· καὶ πᾶν τὸ αἷμα αὐτῆς ἐκχεεῖ παρὰ τὴν βάσιν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου.

ThomsonAnd he shall strip off all the suet in the same manner as suet is stripped from a sacrifice of thanksgiving; and the priest shall offer it on the altar for a smell of fragrance for the Lord. So shall the priest make atonement for him and he shall be forgiven.
BrentonAnd he shall take away all the fat, as the fat is taken away from the sacrifice of peace-offering, and the priest shall offer it on the altar for a smell of sweet savour to the Lord; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and his sin shall be forgiven him.
GreekΚαὶ πᾶν τὸ στέαρ περιελεῖ, ὃν τρόπον περιαιρεῖται στέαρ ἀπὸ θυσίας σωτηρίου· καὶ ἀνοίσει ὁ ἱερεὺς ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ· καὶ ἐξιλάσεται περὶ αὐτοῦ ὁ ἱερεὺς, καὶ ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ.

ThomsonAnd if he bring a sheep as his gift for his sin offering, he shall bring a ewe without blemish,
BrentonAnd if he should offer a lamb for his sin-offering, he shall offer it a female without blemish.
GreekΕὰν δὲ πρόβατον προσενέγκῃ τὸ δῶρον αὐτοῦ περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας, θῆλυ ἄμωμον προσοίσει αὐτό.

Thomsonand lay his hand on the head of the sin offering; and they shall kill it in the place where they kill the whole burnt offerings;
BrentonAnd he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin-offering, and they shall kill it in the place where they kill the victims for whole-burnt-offerings.
GreekΚαὶ ἐπιθήσει τὴν χεῖρα ἐπὶ τῆν κεφαλὴν τοῦ τῆς ἁμαρτίας· καὶ σφάξουσιν αὐτὸ ἐν τόπῳ, οὗ σφάζουσι τὰ ὁλοκαυτώματα.

Thomsonand the priest having taken up with his finger some of the blood of the sin offering shall put it on the horns of the altar of whole burnt offerings. Now all the blood thereof he is to pour out at the base of the altar of whole burnt offerings:
BrentonAnd the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and shall put it on the horns of the altar of whole-burnt-offerings, and he shall pour out all its blood by the bottom of the altar of whole-burnt-offering.

Thomsonand he shall strip off all its suet in the same manner as the suet is stripped from the sheep for a sacrifice of thanksgiving; and the priest shall lay it on the altar on the whole burnt offering of the Lord. So shall the priest make atonement for him and he shall be forgiven.
BrentonAnd he shall take away all his fat, as the fat of the lamb of the sacrifice of peace-offering is taken away, and the priest shall put it on the altar for a whole-burnt-offering to the Lord; and the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin which he sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.
GreekΚαὶ πᾶν αὐτοῦ τὸ στέαρ περιελεῖ, ὃν τρόπον περιαιρεῖται στέαρ προβάτου ἐκ τῆς θυσίας τοῦ σωτηρίου· καὶ ἐπιθήσει αὐτὸ ὁ ἱερεὺς ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ἐπὶ τὸ ὁλοκαύτωμα Κυρίου· καὶ ἐξιλάσεται περὶ αὐτοῦ ὁ ἱερεὺς περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας ἧς ἥμαρτε, καὶ ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ.
