ThomsonPRAISE the Lord, for good is a song of praise; to our God let praise be sweetly sung.
BrentonAlleluia, a Psalm of Aggæus and Zacharias. Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Sion.
GreekἈλληλούϊα· Ἀγγαίου καὶ Ζαχαρίου. Ἐπαίνει, Ἱερουσαλήμ, τὸν Κύριον, αἴνει τὸν Θεόν σου Σιών.

ThomsonThe Lord is rebuilding Jerusalem; and He will gather the dispersions of Israel.
BrentonFor he has strengthened the bars of thy gates; he has blessed thy children within thee.
GreekὍτι ἐνίσχυσεν τοὺς μοχλοὺς τῶν πυλῶν σου, εὐλόγησεν τοὺς υἱούς σου ἐν σοί.

ThomsonHe healeth the brokenhearted, and bindeth up their wounds;
BrentonHe makes thy borders peaceful, and fills thee with the flour of wheat.
GreekὉ τιθεὶς τὰ ὅριά σου εἰρήνην, καὶ στέαρ πυροῦ ἐμπιπλῶν σε·

ThomsonHe numbereth the multitudes of stars, and calleth them all by their names.
BrentonHe sends his oracle to the earth: his word will run swiftly.
GreekὉ ἀποστέλλων τὸ λόγιον αὐτοῦ τῇ γῇ, ἕως τάχους δραμεῖται ὁ λόγος αὐτοῦ·

ThomsonGreat is our Lord and great His power; and infinite in His understanding.
BrentonHe gives snow like wool: he scatters the mist like ashes.
GreekΤοῦ διδόντος χιόνα ὡσεὶ ἔριον, ὁμίχλην ὡσεὶ σποδὸν πάσσοντος·

ThomsonThe Lord raiseth up the meek; and humbleth sinners to the ground.
BrentonCasting forth his ice like morsels: who shall stand before his cold?
GreekΒάλλοντος κρύσταλλον αὐτοῦ ὠσεὶ ψωμούς· κατὰ πρόσωπον ψύχους αὐτοῦ τίς ὑποστήσεται;

ThomsonSing alternately to the Lord with thanksgiving. In concert with the kithara, sing praises to our God—
BrentonHe shall send out his word, and melt them: he shall blow with his wind, and the waters shall flow.
GreekἈποστελεῖ τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ, καὶ τήξει αὐτά, πνεύσει τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ῥυήσεται ὕδατα.

Thomsonto Him Who covereth the heaven with clouds—to Him Who provideth rain for the earth—to Him Who causeth grass to grow on mountains, and bladed corn for the use of man;

Thomsonand Who giveth suitable food to cattle, and to the young ravens which call on Him.
