2
ThomsonRemember Thy congregation which Thou hast purchased of old; this portion to Thine inheritance which Thou hast redeemed; this mount Sion on which Thou hast dwelt.
BrentonWe will give thanks to thee, O God, we will give thanks, and call upon thy name: I will declare all thy wonderful works.
3
ThomsonLift up Thy hands against their perpetual haughtiness; for all that the enemy hath wickedly done in Thy Holies.
BrentonWhen I shall take a set time, I will judge righteously.
4
ThomsonThey who hate Thee have indeed triumphed: in the midst of Thy festival they set up their own signs:
BrentonThe earth is dissolved, and all that dwell in it: I have strengthened its pillars. Pause.
5
ThomsonThe signs pointing to the entrance above they did not know. As if in a forest of trees,
BrentonI said unto the transgressors, Do not transgress; and to the sinners, Lift not up the horn.

Thomsonthey cut down with axes the doors of that entrance. Then with hatchets and mattocks they broke it down.
BrentonLift not up your horn on high; speak not unrighteousness against God.
7
ThomsonThey burned Thy sanctuary to the ground with fire: they profaned the habitation of Thy name.
BrentonFor good comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the desert mountains.
8
ThomsonThey said, The whole brood of them are in their heart set upon this: come, let us cause to cease from the land the festivals of the Lord.
BrentonFor God is the judge; he puts down one, and raises up another.
9
ThomsonThe signs peculiarly ours we do not see: there is no more a prophet; nor will he any more acknowledge us.
BrentonFor there is a cup in the hand of the Lord, full of unmingled wine; and he has turned it from side to side, but its dregs have not been wholly poured out; all the sinners of the earth shall drink them.
10
ThomsonHow long O God, shall the enemy reproach? Shall the adversary blaspheme Thy name forever?
BrentonBut I will exult for ever: I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
11
ThomsonWhy dost Thou withdraw Thy hand? Let Thy right hand be ever out of Thy bosom.
BrentonAnd I will break all the horns of sinners; but the horns of the righteous one shall be exalted.
