ThomsonEXULT with joy for God our helper! Shout triumphantly for the God of Jacob!
BrentonA Psalm for Asaph. God stands in the assembly of gods; and in the midst of them will judge gods.
GreekΨαλμὸς τῷ Ἀσάφ. Ὁ Θεὸς ἔστη ἐν συναγωγῇ θεῶν, ἐν μέσῳ δὲ θεοὺς διακρινεῖ.

ThomsonTake a psalm and bring a tympanum—the sweet sounding psaltery with a kithara.
BrentonHow long will ye judge unrighteously, and accept the persons of sinners? Pause.
GreekἝως πότε κρίνετε ἀδικίαν, καὶ πρόσωπα ἁμαρτωλῶν λαμβάνετε; διάψαλμα.

ThomsonSound the trumpet at the new moon—at the set day of your festival.
BrentonJudge the orphan and poor: do justice to the low and needy.
GreekΚρίνατε ὀρφανὸν καὶ πτωχὸν, ταπεινὸν καὶ πένητα δικαιώσατε.

ThomsonFor it is a statute for Israel—a rite established by the God of Jacob—
BrentonRescue the needy, and deliver the poor out of the hand of the sinner.
GreekΕξέλεσθε πένητα, καὶ πτωχὸν ἐκ χειρὸς ἁμαρτωλοῦ ῥύσασθε.

Thomsonas a testimony for Joseph; it pointed him out at the time of his coming out of the land of Egypt; he caused him to hear a tongue which he knew not:
BrentonThey know not, nor understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth shall be shaken.
GreekΟὐκ ἔγνωσαν οὐδὲ συνῆκαν, ἐν σκότει διαπορεύονται· σαλευθήσονται πάντα τὰ θεμελια τῆς γῆς.

ThomsonIn affliction thou didst call upon Me, and I delivered thee. I heard thee in the secret of a tempest. I proved thee at the water of strife.
BrentonBut ye die as men, and fall as one of the princes.
GreekὙμεῖς δὲ ὡς ἄνθρωποι ἀποθνήσκετε, καὶ ὡς εἷς τῶν ἀρχόντων πίπτετε.

ThomsonHear O My people and I will speak to thee. O Israel, and I will testify to thee. If thou wilt hearken to Me,
BrentonArise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.
GreekἈνάστα ὁ Θεὸς, κρῖνον τὴν γῆν, ὅτι σὺ κατακληρονομήσεις ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔθνεσιν.
