ThomsonTHEN God said to Jacob, arise and go to the place Bethel and dwell there. And erect there an altar to the God who appeared to thee, when thou wast fleeing from the face of thy brother Esau.
BrentonAnd God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to the place, Bæthel, and dwell there; and make there an altar to the God that appeared to thee, when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

Thomsonand let us arise and go to Bethel and build there an altar to the God Who hearkened to me in a day of distress—Who was with me and preserved me in the way in which I went. So they gave Jacob the strange gods, which were in their hands and the ear rings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them in the pine grove, which was in the country of the Sekimites and destroyed them even to this day.
BrentonAnd let us rise and go up to Bæthel, and let us there make an altar to God who hearkened to me in the day of calamity, who was with me, and preserved me throughout in the journey, by which I went.

Thomsonand God said to him, Thy name shall no more be called Jacob; but Israel shall be thy name. So he called his name Israel.

ThomsonAnd when she was in the sharp pangs of child birth, the midwife said to her, Courage; for this also is a son for thee.
